Chelsea vs Liverpool Pasadena July 27th

Bloody hell guys, certain players are only just getting involved so give them a chance to gain match sharpness & fitness rather than writing them off.

It's clear this friendly was used to work on our shape, as well as trying different options. I'm glad Conte has been giving fringe players a chance as we need better depth for the upcoming season.

Moses definitely best offensive player. Any chance of worth came from him including he was the one who won the free-kick. I have no idea what a few people's issue is with him. People just want him to fail.

You know he is an African right!

I don't really get the criticism of cuadrado. He had little opportunity in a ten man team. Still I'll defer to the better judges on this forum. What would I know.

I only saw h2 but I thought Willian looked good in tight spots, aina was promising at right back and the defense looked quite solid even when it was as deep as the six yard box.

For me rlc is an irritating player. He is good on the ball and athletic, but selfish. Hope he continues to improve.

Not a bad training run and team starting to look fit and motivated.

Dress it up how you want. Liverpool had over 60% of the ball and for large parts we could not get out of or half.

I thought the days of this type of football had gone, with our wingers defending the whole game like full backs. For me I'm so disappointed. What happened to this pressing game Conte ants to employ. I don't expect it to be fully functioning so early but I'd like to see our stall set out. This was so Jose Mourinho.

In addition when we did get the ball, we lacked so much quality. How many times did matic give it away? I know some fans will be happy, 1-0 win with sturdy defence but that's not the way I want us to move forward.

Wish I'd stayed in bed.

Sack the coach and take over then mate if you are so disgruntled about preseason matches. This is your second time of moaning.

I agree.

RLC has been a dissapointment so far.

Cuadrado... he looks so good whenever I see him in Italy, but he's so frail for Chelsea...

I'll moan as much as I want 'mate'. It's a forum. I'm disappointed about the shape and tactics that were employed, having hoped we would start a fresh this season and see new ideas.

Don't take it so Personally, things can improve and hopefully they will. I'm just commenting on what I see this morning.

My word. Hard to know where to start with this post.

Recorded it but haven't had a chance to watch the whole game and watched large parts of the game at X30. Saw the goal in real time and was impressed by Cahill's commitment to the header. Where was that in the Euros?

The strange thing about watching matches at X30 is you get to see the team shape and the overall tactic clearly. You also get to see who dominates the possession and clearly Liverpool had the Lions share. The positive I would take is that we looked solid at the back. The team had clearly been instructed to set up in a framework behind the ball when Liverpool had possession and everybody stuck to their job. This is an improvement to last season when we were leaking goals before we even knew there was a hole. It is also an improvement because it means the manager has a plan and the team are listening. As has already been said on here, if Conte is building from the back, that's OK with me. Results breed confidence and that was missing for large parts of last season.

Are you insinuating that Chelsea fans don't rate him based on his nationality?

The same Chelsea fans who voted Didier Drogba the club's greatest ever player?

Didn't see the game but always nice to get one over the dippers.. Were we really that bad? The way some are going on as if we lost 5-0 I'm sure we will see the attacking football Conte wants us to play in time bare in mind we still haven't played with our first 11 and we seem to be working on being solid first and foremost which we needed.

"‘I was pleased with my team because I saw the right spirit and a lot of positive things, but I know and my players know that we can improve a lot".-Conte

That's the honest assessment of a man who loves to win but realizes his team needs to improve, he's 3wks into his job and to beat a Klopp team who has had more time at the job is no easy feat. Let's exercise more patience.

PS:I apologize for the aggressive response to your post earlier.

Conte has been here what, two weeks ? Some players have been back for a week. We still have a major player to start training and obviously we still have some new signings to bed in too. Oh and our best player and our best striker didnt play a minute in this one as well.

Conte has to install his ethos. You dont do this in two weeks. He is quite rightly working on fitness and shape at the moment. Anyone else expecting anything above that at this stage is living in dreamland. To me the players already look fitter and shaper than they did this time last year and that should be what we are looking for at this stage.

How can you possibly come to conclusions ? After the West Ham game we might be in a better position to voice some concerns but right now ? Its absurd.

Just not sure what people want or expect any more. Some of these comments are alarming, though i shouldnt be surprised i guess.

Excellent post mate.

Unbelievable isn't he. Must have forgotten the adulation essien got too.

It's his 3rd game with us,after only a few days having most of the players back. Our weakness last season was defensively, that's his immediate priority to fix. Stop with all the miserable dooming for f**ks sake, it's pathetic and whiney.

Surprised at how much playing time Aina is getting.

Baba appears to already be out of favour.

Odd that neither of Costa or Remy were involved in the squad.

Also surprised that Oscar didn't get any minutes last night either.

I'm suspecting there might be a number of changes for the Madrid game.

No problem, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I just hoped to see more of his idea tactically. Of course the players aren't fit and he's not had long so I wasn't expecting drastic changes. The problem is with suring up the defence playing How we did, was that should we play a more expansive game, the defensive tactics/positioning completely change.

Anyway, we won't play many teams who press like Liverpool do so I'm sure things will be different in the coming weeks.
