I find the half and half scarves really tacky.

I never saw the point of wearing a scarf with another teams name on it.....

It is for the tourists

It's not just the half and half scarves though - they're banning all unofficial Chelsea clothing - they've copyrighted the name Chelsea as well as the crest etc.  So the stalls can sell nothing with "Chelsea" on it.

Don't think I've ever bought anything anyway but it means you won't be able to get most of the cheaper merchandise from the stalls but will have to get the official stuff from the Chelsea store.  Will be interesting to see what the stalls will be left to sell!

For all I know they may have done so already but I think the least the club could do is offer the merchants employment as a result. I'm no fan of half and half scarves but appreciate the appeal for tourists, by licensing them they're essentially killing off a revenue stream for those who may barely manage to make ends meet anyway.

Most of those stall holders are proper old fans that have been linked to the club through their dodgy merchandise for longer than most of our fans have been aware of the club. I find this news very sad.

I despise half-and-half scarves, but I despise half-and-half jerseys even more.

You're either with us, or against us instead of this half-and-half nonsense that has crept up in football in the last few years :Connie_threaten:

And that's why the story is misleading - probably deliberately so from the Chelsea marketing team as they're assuming everyone will say "oh good, I hate half and half scarves" but miss the point that it's ALL clothing.

Thats interesting. I usually collect a badge or two when I go to games, I guess it will be off the street a bit more

It only says that Chelsea have licensed clothing so they may still be selling badges.

Glad about half and half scarfs but the stall's with some of the t shirts books pictures and badges will be a loss. For me as long as an item was not a cheap fake of something the club is selling it shouldn't be a problem. Interesting about the name as its a girls name and there will also be local business's with Chelsea in the name.

I imagine the trademark would only be on Chelsea when related to football though.

Sad to hear, really.  And I think they've had a go at folks selling badges in the past.
