The most important game is the next game ahead. That is Middlesbrough and they should be taken seriously. They have already taken points from two title contenders, one which they were the better team and really deserved to win. And we have played 11 league games this season and Costa has started every single one and has not picked up a yellow for ages nor has picked up an injury. We should trust him to do what he does best, like he has been doing for weeks now and either way we got a week's rest anyway. Injury concerns are the least that people should be worrying about when we have no European football.

it's fatigue that we shouldn't be concern about with no european football. injuries are still injuries, european football or not, if conte think costa's still not 100% by tomorrow then he shouldn't risk putting him in the starting xi, i mean he can still come off the bench in the second half if the situation really calls for it

you're not looking at the bigger picture, sure we shouldn't underestimate boro but there's much tougher fixtures coming plus costa has a long history of nagging groin injury, think he missed a total of almost 3 months in the last 2 seasons with a groin injury

i'm confident we'll pick up where we left off and win comfortably tomorrow with or without diego

Minor injuries are often treated with painkillers, if it's major then yes leave them at home, but if Antonio pulls a Benitez and voluntary rest's our star players which results in points dropped he would be the first one blamed after the game. There may be tougher games than Boro but it this game could be the difference in May, if we drop points due to resting Eden and Diego for 'bigger challenges' then lose the league or god for bid top four by a point......................

I personally don't really fancy a repeat of the QPR game of early 2013 were a great run we were on got halted due to needless rotation.

I think we should start diego and once we're like 3 or 4-0 up bring michy on

Happy to be proven wrong, but I can't see it being a blowout if we win. Middlesbrough's defence is rather solid, but it's their lack of firepower that has prevented them being higher on the ladder.

If we win, I can only see it being a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

No manager is going to risk a key player unless its a CL final, or a key title game, they will assess, but an injury and a niggle is very different, there isn't much point in us speculating, the medical team will assess, then the manager will make a decision, Conte doesn't strike me as the cavalier type, but if it's just a niggle I'd say he will play, unless Conte has thought it better to save him for Spuds and city.

Conte already confirmed in the presser that both are fit!  I think both will start.  And I see 3-0

Sort of, he confirmed Diego is training and will monitor him today, but being that we can go top tomorrow I'm sure the player will insist he plays and unless he is in serious risk I assume he will get the nod.

Stupidity to be asking him about rooney, who is essentially a fringe player these days at a rival club, but he handled the question really well. Imagine he's said 'no i don't think it's right for players to get drunk in that way, but he's not my player', the headline would have been 'Scathing Conte Slams Rooney Antics' or some other sh*te.

Why are they even asking opposition managers about Wayne Rooney anyway ?

He got drunk, big bloody whoop. I mean seriously, who gives a sh*t and why should any Premier League manager give a damn ?

Our media are probably making a bigger deal out of this than the Spanish media were over Messi's tax fraud.

wohooo Chelsea to top the league tomorrow!  The boys will be fired up for this game I tell you!

I am going to do a 100 quid bet on this one.  Aint no way the boys and Conte can mess it up tomorrow.

Come on Chelsea!!!!!!!!  lets hot them for 3

The reason i would not agree is the league is so tight 3 points in should win games are a must and because I'd hate to disrupt this momentum we have, we saw what happened in teh cup against west ham, albeit with more changes, those 2 are key key players and it would have to be a real risk of further injury  that would keep them out the line-up right now.

True. I still think the league is a marathon not a sprint. Like I said it's only if they aren't fit, if they are fit then of course they should play. I would just rather rest them both for a game then rest losing them to a muscle tear, etc.

Seems they are both fit anyway so bit of a redundant debate.

Whats people's thoughts on result, score etc?

This spat between us and Liverpool will seem incredibly irrelevant come March when we're fourth and fifth respectively and Man City are ten points clear.

So with the way Chelsea are playing, without champions league and Europa, and with no players going to Afcon - you think Chelsea will finish forth?? Behind which 3 if I may ask?

That prediction was inspired by the form of Manchester City, Jameson FC and Famous Grouse United.

We can go top now.. watched the saint game, had a few scare moments myselft with some of those chances liverpool created but at the end we got what want, a chance to go top..

And then the city game, it has to be him... so many people writing him off but he marked his comeback with 2 winning goals, have no idea how this kind of thing can happen..

Hope the break didn't do anything to our great form. Middlesbrough is not easy. Fact is no opponent is easy. Especially now as some of our main rivals have dropped points we need to be very focused.

We have two games now where our opponent has tried to nullify us with 3 at back. West Ham got it right and Everton got it very wrong. We still have no idea how it works against Pool, Spurs, Arsenal or City.

Back from the break and speaking of which, why don't they just take a month in Dec off and deal with all this irrelevant internationals?

Our record against Boro is pretty good and not only do I not want to mess up this stat, but we also will go to the top for a nice change.
