June 19, 20197 yr AC Milan have a new manager, Bakayoko didn’t tell this one to f**k off. Maybe there’s a chance they’ll take up the option to sign him. Anyone else got any straws I can clutch at?

With Kante moving back to the role he does a shit load better than anyone else in football Bakayoko, for all that he has the first touch of a rapist, will be of more use than Jorginho who, if he was a horse should be put down and turned into glue to be distributed to primary schools

At least Jorginho can do the basics. Bakayoko on the other hand, is just pants. His attitude stinks also. I'm open to getting rid of both, but if push comes to shove Jorginho got booed all season and played his best matches afterwards. Bakayoko got booed off a couple of times and went to water. That Watford away match is still the worst single display I've seen in the Abramovich era.

The introduction of CHO & RLC helped because they actually moved off the ball instead of playing statues.
June 20, 20197 yr To be honest neither Bakayoko or Jorginho are suited to the English game. The tediously non competitive or shove penny shove of the French and Italian leagues are far more their style. Bakayoko has less bottle than Spurs and Jorginho needs more time and space than Vanessa Feltz at therapy sessions. However whoever we get as a manager is going to not have Sarri's gloopy brain and will play Kante in the role where he can get his tadger out can do his Makalele impression. That leaves Jorginho on the bench as playing him higher up the pitch will be as creative as morph with finger paints. Bakayoko would be more useful there without being particularly good.
June 20, 20197 yr Apparently Seville were keen on taking Bakayoko on loan for the season. I can see him getting farmed about for the next few years, signing a new 4 year extension, going on a few more loans before finally joining West Ham for £10m.

I can actually see him getting a second chance here under Lampard. Especially if Makelele comes back which is reported as he mentored Bakayoko at Monaco and turned him into a much better player there.

Lets say the new manager plays 4-3-3. Typically you have one player holding, one box to box and one with more attacking responsibilities. We've got players more suited to all three of those roles than Bakayoko. Same goes for 4-2-3-1, he's most suited to one of those two holding positions but he's not going to play ahead of Kante or Jorginho Maybe he's there as a reserve player but I imagine he wants regular first team football.

I don’t think Lampard is going to want to use Jorginho as the DM in 4-3-3. I think he’ll want the more traditional and physical presence in that position and would not be surprised if Bakayoko gets a chance to make that position his own this season.

Why would Frank do that when he has Kante? There is only person who thinks Kante shouldn't play there and he is currently looking for black and white shell suits and finding a new skip to live on.

I think you'll find several on this forum that believe Kante isn't a DM and shouldn't be used there actually.
June 20, 20197 yr Let me get this straight. There are people who think two times league winner and world cup winner defensive midfielder Kante shouldn't play defensive midfield. Do these same people think the earth is flat, Keith Flint was a genius and dragons used to boss the planet?

I blame Cesc, it all started when he left, all of a sudden we needed our best ball winner doing box to box duty.
June 20, 20197 yr If we're going to bring back the likes of Bakayoko and Bats, then we might as well get Dave Basset out of retirement and start building a new Wimbledon. Watching those numpties trying to control a football is like watching a dog chasing a balloon.

June 20, 20197 yr This Kante debate goes round in cirles and makes me wonder what people have been watching before this season. Kante never just in front of the back four for Leicester or Chelsea. But, up until the season he wasn't consistetly so high up the pitch finding himself in positions where he should be creaating and scoring goals. Apart from a few good moments, he simply isn't technically good enough for that job in a top four team.
June 20, 20197 yr Let me get this straight, we think a player who played next to Drinkwater, Matic, Fabregas was the defensive one?? The one known for his lungs and breaking up play in midfield was actually just staying back and shielding the back 4 the whole time?
June 20, 20197 yr Need to get away from thinking the DM just sits back. Defensive midfielders come in all sorts, Matic and Kante despite being different types of DM, they fitted well together, one being the less mobile but taller stronger DM, and Kante the ultra mobile DM with huge range.
June 20, 20197 yr Exactly Coco. I'm prepared to accept box to box as the category but, almost by definition, that means his base starting point is generally nearer to our box than a position further up field where only an ex TSB manager thinks he is best utilised. OK he got more goals last season playing there but any midfielder is going to get more goals playing there than playing where Sarri's nephew Jorginho played. Well except Kovacic who has an eye for the goal akin to Michael Barrymore's eye for the ladies.

He started in a position in front of the back four, but went where he needed to go to break up play and/or win the ball back. It's one of the reasons why we were more defensively solid - Kante prevented a lot of balls & players from getting near our defenders, Our defenders, especially Luiz, missed having him there. For me, Bakayoko does not think fast enough, nor act fast enough to play for us. Not a good first touch, doesn't drive forward like Ruben. Not sure what his worth to us would be. And it would be best for all to find a league & club where he can fit in.

There were plenty of times when he carried the ball into the opponants half and as you said break up play and win the ball in other areas. He scored just 4 goals last season and imho that did not compensate for what we lost defensively. I am srue the next manager will tweak his role and get the best out of him.
June 20, 20197 yr @loz @coco out of curiosity, if Kante were to play infront of the back 4 as a DM, who would your other 2 midfielders be?

At the moment, and if everyone fit, it would be RLC and reluctantly Barkley or Bakayoko until such time as we get a feel for whether Mount can step up a few rungs and play in the Premier League. Now that isn't me saying Bakayoko or Barkley are great - more that if you're starving and the chippy is shut you may just have to Pauly's mama's spicey meatballs out of desparation.
