Skinnedy reacted to ForeverCarefree in Welcome Hakim ZiyechHe was like a whole different player.
Finally looked like the guy we hoped we were buying.
Let's hope it continues!

Skinnedy reacted to Backbiter in Victor MosesHe had an exceptional season there when we won the league, and I don't think Chelsea fans underrate his contribution.

Skinnedy got a reaction from Luiz4Chelsea in Kai HavertzTruly great athletes can do this... he glides... so he doesn't look like he's putting forth a ton of effort.
So you need some perspective... other players around him.
and when he's carrying the ball in open space, NO ONE catches up with him.
The man is a unit (that's a good thing in american english, so apologies if that doesn't translate).
I think we're going to several new levels of him as he settles in and matures.

Skinnedy reacted to terraloon in Ethan AmpaduThe first time I saw hiM was in a game at Exeter where he represented them against our youngsters in the EFL trophy. He was the best player on the pitch by a country mile
Think far too many are basing his performance for a poor PL team. Don’t forget he has played over 22 times for Wales
At Sheffield Utd he is playing in the back four his best position and the one he occupies for Wales is a midland then for me it’s a s a holding midfielder.
He is 20 years old and will be a far more rounded player having been playing regularly and in a very challenging environment.
Don’t write him off just yet

Skinnedy reacted to nonotnowjim in Antonio RudigerCan't believe nobody has taken the time to sing this mans praises in his own thread since the game.
What a game by rudi. He has produced some bloody amazing CB performances in this champions league run, but last night was possibly the best. In absolute beast mode.
Should have been played in at one point for a 1 on 1 with the keeper, having burst forward. Immense defensive performance.
TT really getting the best of him having previously been mismanaged and left to rot.

Skinnedy reacted to Barry Bridges in Would you consider yourself primarily a Chelsea fan or a football fan?Chelsea fan first and foremost. Only follow cause my mom and her side of the family lived in Chelsea/Battersea for generations, and everyone but my granddad was a Chelsea fan (Fulham fan but for a funny story).
Would support this club and find a way to watch even if it fell to the lower divisions again.....people forget historically CFC has had best attendance numbers in England when not even being in the first flight..... but would I support in this new format?
I don't know. It might be named Chelsea, but it certainly wouldnt be the Chelsea that I followed because generations of my family have. It would be a new entity. The relegation system has a certain magic in it you just don't get in other sports, and this super league wont have it either.
I think I would watch Chelsea in the super league, but not pay to do so. Im not sure if I would buy merchandize anymore.
I also think the powers to be pushing this don't realize how quickly their league matches could become as any current domestic league. The magic of playing the non-English clubs in this proposal are that we don't face them multiple times a season every season.....that the way to playing them has to be earned. That elimination from the competition often rides on the result. Playing any of these teams twice a season with nothing on the line except for when you're going for the title... great way to lose that magic asap.
"OMG are you going to watch that game versus Juventus where regardless of the result we both finish midtable?"
"Huge night tonight....we either win against Real Madrid and stay 3 points off the bottom 3, or lose and go into the non-relegation zone where we will simply sit until next season with no urgency or consequences"
Seriously...what's going to make it so that in 5 years a game of the top teams in the super league against the bottom ones isnt on the same level now as us/MCFC/MUFC facing Brighton or team in the bottom half but safe from relegation?
Now that I think of it.......changing from an exciting league where the top gets rewarded, and bottom punished. Where there are usually at least 4 titles/cups to play for with most in knockout competition........for a chance to play in 1 league with only 1 thing to play for and no risk of relegation.
Maybe my grandad was just way ahead of this time.

Skinnedy got a reaction from yorkleyblue in VAR Very Average RefereeingThe offsides is the one bothering me the most. I think the letter of the law has to change in the age of technology to represent the intent of the law.
The naked eye can't see strides or sleeves. feet move to fast to know whose foot is in front of the other at any given time. Get a guy reaching for a tackle, and he's objectively half a meter behind the other player, but his shoelace may hold the other player on... or off... it's ridiculous.
I think it should be like sprinters. When you want to draw an offsides line, draw use the sternum. I saw someone else say the waist... that's fine, that's the same idea... if you and I are in a race, we basically judge shoulder to shoulder who is winning, not whose feet or sleeve or hair is in front.
That's the way the game has been officiated for 200 years. by looking at the Torso.
They keep trying to take the human element out of the game. They try to standardize it, but then they leave out common sense. I'm more pissed off about Werner's goal being disallowed than Havertz.
I've said this for 20 years now with regards to replay and the "clear and obvious" error. Put a clock on it. You have 20 seconds to make a decision. If it takes longer than 20 seconds, it's not clear and obvious... play on... Replay was never intended to judge the small margins... just the big errors.

Skinnedy got a reaction from LongtimerLurker in Andreas ChristensenI thought it was strange that Zouma started centrally in that game. Of the 7 or so CBs we've had on the team this year, Zouma might be my LAST choice of the guy to put in the middle. (Silva, Christensen, Rudiger, Tomori, James, Azpi, Zouma).
He needs the freedom to roam and attack aerially, not be a sweeper...

Skinnedy got a reaction from Jezz in Possible Major shake up for English footballThe American model is a franchise model of the Billionaire boys club... buy your way into the league and you have a no-risk asset that generates millions of guaranteed revenue without any risk. They put salary caps in place and incentivize losing if you're not in the "playoff" race. It's pretty despicable if you look at it with an open mind.
The only ones who suffer with an unambitious owner are the fans. The owner still makes his millions while fielding an inferior product and leaching off of the league.
I LOVE how cutthroat international football is. I love promotion, relegation. I love that teams fight for their lives at the end of the season, instead of tanking for a higher draft pick. I love that ambition is rewarded and not punished.
