I think him not been on the ball is more to do with the game being played a lot more on the far side of the pitch by both the teams. Defensively he has covered the passing lanes perfectly.

agreed. he hasn't look anything other than a bit average. 

remember how much preseason mattered when liverpool were outclassing bayern etc? watford brought them back down to earth fairly swiftly.

Agree he hasn't been great, does the simple things well but he had a long range diagonal that was easily read and a misplaced pass that put his team under pressure. Quality (i.e. passing accuracy, decision making) tends to shine at youth level, I'm not convinced he has it imho.
