Chelsea V Bournemouth (PL) Sat 1st Sep 15:00 UK

potencial banana slip as they started the season very well. the plus is, that they have an english cup match on tuesday against MK dons

They fought back very well from 2-0 down against Everton on Saturday, this wont be an easy game at all.

In fact, the last time we played them at the Bridge we lost 3-0 in a very bizarre game, we dominated the first half, some 65% of the ball and we hit the post too but Bournemouth managed to pick us apart on the counter in the 2nd half.

Losing this and the Watford game back to back last year cost us a top 4 finish, in the grand scheme of things so it would be nice to beat them at the weekend.

Who also can remember under Mourinho, Bournemouth parking the bus and getting a late Glenn Murray winner about 3 years ago that was another farce of a game.

I reckon they will play very defensive, like Newcastle but will have more of an attacking intent so hopefully they try to play a bit and we can get out and up the pitch to do damage.

Plan a. Early goal to force them out, use the first 15 mins to be sharp and direct, really go for it, if we make a mistake and they counter and score we will have at least 80 mins to put it right, but if we score early we could have a much easier afternoon breaking them down.

Plan b.  If plan a fails then start to shoot from range, as much as possible, if the ball goes out goal kick we go again, win it back shoot again. Long periods of possession must have a goal attempt on the end of it.

Plan c. If plans a and b fail and Bournemouth keep us out come the second half, i would consider reverting to a false 9, place Hazard central, Willian left and Pedro right, the Bournemouth defenders will have to come out a little with no striker to mark, or risk being too deep and allowing us further up the pitch.

Plan d. Late on get Tammy and Olivier up front and bang it up to them in desperation.

They are actually a pretty decent side. Wont be easy, though I doubt anyone expects it to be. They have punished us twice in recent years for not being clinical in front of goal. Hopefully we have learned our lesson.

I will start the same team that started against New Castle.  I dont think B-Mouth will play as defensive as NewCastle.

Substitution  of Morata <-> Giroud || Hazard <-> Willian || Kovacic <->Barkley.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively, I would also not mind having Willian start instead of Hazard and Hazard comes for Morata as a false 9.  If there is spaces to exploit and we have Willian-Hazard-Pedro as our attackers it should be a fun match to watch.

I would keep the same team but maybe put Barkley in for Kovacic. Not because Kovacic was bad or anything, but I think it was harsh for Barkley to be dropped and I don't think Kovacic did much better in his start. Also think Barkley gives us more of a goal threat so would rather him start this game.

Really looking forward to this game. We have a heap of respect for you guys, but I can promise we won’t park the bus and it will be an entertaining game to watch!

i wouldn’t like to call it though as we have a habit of coming back from one or two goals down. Our guys will be flat out till the final whistle. Either way, as long as we put in a good shift I’m not too bothered about the score :)

Can’t wait, actually buzzing to get back to The Bridge! Such a change from last season.

Totally agree mate, strange one for me, going up on my own, usually a group of us go, but holidays, stag weekends etc mean that on my jack, but still can't wait!!

For me you play your strongest team, we all know though we are getting results yet we still need to improve and for the players to be comfortable with Sarris' methods. I wouldn't start Barkley though wouldn't be opposed to starting with Willian with Hazard to come off the bench.

I'm expecting more of an open game which should suit us but could cause us issues.

I'd drop Luiz, Saturday was a huge let off for him that Alonso forced the OG and saved his ass, I'm all for players getting a fair shake of the stick and give them a chance but as soon as you make such a serious error you should be dropped and the fact he was like a statue at the near post and nearly cost us points, I'd play Christensen on Saturday over him.

Bournemouth aren’t going to be a push over but they won’t sit back and let us attack there going to be pushing forward as much as us. I think we will win isn’t in doubt,

sarri should give Christensen a chance instead of luiz and also bring in Willian instead of Pedro being Pedro on for hazard in the second half

Definitely have to agree with everyone so far it won't be the cakewalk on paper that it should perhaps be; Eddie Howe isn't one to defend so I think he'll have a go and exploit our defence which is the weakest part of our game so far; I expect to see a high energy game with lots of goals 4-3....unless somehow our back 4 hold up.....which is highly unlikely at the moment.

It's a good headache to have for a club when you're debating whether to start either Barkley or Kovacic, lol. Sure, give Barkley the start, he's definitely a threat going forward.

I think that Bournemouth will/should present problems, but we'll counter what they do. If they park the bus, we'll just have to relentlessly break them down like how we did at Newcastle, if they come at us, we'll absorb and hit right back. Regardless, should be a good game.

Bournemouth won't sit back like Newcastle did.

They're quite an attacking side and think will be the perfect game to see how far we've come over the last month as Bournemouth will give you space. Concerned about cutbacks though as they have pacy forwards/wide players.

I'm a big fan of Eddie Howe, would love him to be England manager in the future. Bournemouth (despite smashing us last season) are probably one of my more favourable teams in the league due to that style of play.

How do you think you'll cope with Simon Francis at right back up against Eden Hazard? Seems like a mismatch.

King and Wilson will cause our back 4 multiple problems, no doubt.

Predictions?

They wont no, but they will start off slightly cautious and reserved, they wont go straight into it.

Most likely be Adam Smith at RB. He got a red card last game but he will miss the game tonight. Smtih is quite good offensively from what I see but Hazard should wreak havoc against any Fb he comes across tbh.

Great point, I think the fact that we’re playing a different style under Sarri has our opponents somewhat very cautious when playing us.

After three games and nine points, other teams know that we’re going to pass and put high pressure on them, so they’re going to be super cautious so as to not suffer an early goal.

They’ll play defensively at first and counter attack, and if we keep suffocating them with high pressure passing, I think they’ll struggle to even get the time of possession to mount extended periods of attacking football, even with their good offensive capabilities.

Our defense really needs to be on point to snuff out their advances and as long as Jorginho does his insane passing thing and we keep control of the ball for most of the game, we should be fine.

Should be an interesting game to say the least, am greatly looking forward to it.

It’s also a good away match for many other sides, especially in the summer, many of the travelling fans make a weekend of it and dump their other halves at the beach. To answer your question very few people can cope with Hazard to be fair.. once he has the ball and a bit of space there is little we can do. I think Fraser and Brooks might give you something to think about but again it’s all down to form and mental attitude on the day.  Wilson is playing well but not clinical on his shots like before his injury.

As for my prediction, I’d take a point now but I think it will be 2-1 to you boys

I’m feeling good about this game...and I think the team is too...3-0 is my prediction....
