🗣 @Matt_Law_DT on Raine’s Commission:

“Raine have a massive commission fee on not just the sale price of Chelsea, but also the future investment price, which I've never heard of before. Chelsea can't make any money from the sale, but Raine can make a lot of money out of this.”

Still not sure why a US Bank had been chosen to oversea this process. Had they even hard of Chelsea FC before Roman approached them? What evidence points to them caring about our club or our fans? Surley as a bank they only care about making the most money.

This poster is so poorly put together it almost changes my mind in favour of the Ricketts family

Hope that's a joke mate the poster gets it's message across don't think any Chelsea fans will be pulling them up on Saturday over spelling mistakes.

Just turned on TV and they are discussing us in Parliament if anyone wants to switch on

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2022/3/31/23004983/chelsea-and-raine-group-open-to-new-11th-hour-bids-as-broughton-pagliuca-battle-headwinds-too

Calls in Parliament to throw out Pagliucas bid based on links to crimes in South Africa, Sir Martins bid under fire as well.

Article even mentions they would consider an 11th hour bid even though we are in stage two. Which does not say a great deal for Raine or their choices so far does it?

You could say the same for the CPO though surely?

Honestly im not sure, Would be interesting to know all the details of exactly how the CPO works but im sure its different, This true blues stuff comes with an app where you trade a bit like a trading app, Essentially it will make 10% of the club public owned.

On another note, It was interesting to hear about the group that wanted to publicly trade us like utd (which is why they have unlimited funds these days)

They said it would take about a year to sort out

The optimist would say maybe in a few years that will happen regardless and we will be able to compete with state run clubs like Real, PSG etc!

Was just a little joke to lighten a thread of serious discussion.

Whilst we’re being serious though. It wouldn’t matter how good the message is, if a few hundred Chelsea fans protested with that poster we’d be a laughing stock.

Could always ask these blokes to do it.😁

Being based in Chicago I am pretty familiar with the way that the Ricketts family runs a sports team. So I do have significant concerns over them owning Chelsea. While the Cubs did win their first World Series in a century under the Ricketts family, they should have gone on to build a dynasty. Instead that great team underachieved and was ultimately broken up. While that was not all down to the Ricketts there were definitely some poor decisions made around contracts.

Also they are highly unpopular with most Cubs fans. The Cubs have always had sellout games even when they have been awful due to the location of the stadium, and the loyalty of the fans. Ricketts family took advantage of the success by increasing ticket prices, especially for corporate areas, without worrying about success on the field. Not to mention they have suggested moving out of the City unless they get certain tax breaks. Moving from Wrigley Field would be unthinkable for most Cubs fans so that went down terribly.

Overall I think they would be like the Glazers. I am sure they would want success from any team that they own, but only to increase the value of their investment.

But didn't they regenerate the area around the stadium and upgrade Wrigley Field...all that costs money and will need to be offset in someway?

They are major players in brokering deals between companies and overseeing sales and mergers

Anyone reckon we’re gonna get screwed over and end up with rubbish owners? Starting to feel that way isn’t it, especially with Raine influencing with their personal commission.

Matt Law saying that of the 4 bidders, only 1 would actually pass without any issues - Bohley.

Seems like he is the logical choice - but remains to be seen whether logic wins.

Bohley has issues too. One of the key men he trusts is a Spurs fanatic. Speaks volumes for his mental state

One way or another whichever bid is successful there are going to be issues raised or concerns raised as to the business ethic, the business decisions and the business reasons for new owners taking over Chelsea

My major concern will be removed once we have a new owner in place, an owner whoever they are will get us back to normal trading.

Then all sort of questions will start to rear their ugly heads. From trying to get Rudiger to sign an extension to getting major sponsors back on board they are very much day one and I terms of where we end  the season in terms of the league and indeed potentially the FA cup and CL will happen despite new owners and not because of them whoever they may be.

The planning then starts both in the medium term (season 22/23 ) and of course the long term.

Football is going to change as much as anything as we are now seeing a significant number of top players being quite happy to run their contracts down. There will be a lot more Bosman transfers of the top players  and we are going to see wage growth at top clubs that growth almost certainly will be matched by a decline in amortisation. When transfers do happen there will be far more statistics involved as opposed to taking  just the advice of say Fred a scout of 25 years experience who once discovered a player that scored three goals in the Italian league.

So to who I personally want to take over.

Well that’s easy it’s Father Christmas but as we all know that ain’t gonna happen so I personally think it has to be someone with the best vision and not necessarily  just the deepest pockets. Like just about everyone on here we have absolutely little to no personal knowledge of any of the individuals involved. That said I do know one albeit by sight and that is Danny , Lord Finkleston who I. Know how much he cares for, how much he loves Chelsea and just how bright he is so that’s where my hopes lie so it’s the Bohey group as my preferred bidder but whoever it is it now needs to be done in the next month.

Why are parliament involving themselves in the sale? I get sanctioning Roman but after that they should be completely out of the situation.  It's up to Raine, the Chelsea board involved in the sale, and the Premier League/the FA to determine whether an owner is unfit or not. This whole situation has really set a new precedent where government is going to be more involved in sports more than ever before and that usually doesn't end well.

I only caught the end bit and only because the TV had been on BBC Parliament due to something I had to watch for work the day before!  But the bit I caught they were talking about how the PL had to ensure that whoever bought the club passed the fit and proper owners process and that there were more robust rules in place for this to prevent what's happened with Roman happening again.  Then they started talking about fan ownership and how good it would be if this was part of it which led to a bit of banter where everyone basically started mentioning their own football clubs!

Am not too sure that the Government are that involved other than having to issue a special license for it to be sold.

Individual MPs and Lords are playing to the crowd but they have no power in this and once Raine , who have already given notice that they will need a special license on 18/4 , identify a preferred bidder( who will have to meet criteria already identified)  which almost certainly will rubber stamped by the directors and current owner. You need to bear in mind that Americans can still negotiate, discuss, be ordained by the owner who I suspect would have had a very close eye on all that’s going on

Interestingly this probably is the last time that a major club sale won’t be overseen by a regulator and yep I agree involvement albeit supposedly by an independent rarely plays out that well.

The

Bidders for #Chelsea are to submit Premier League approval documents tomorrow.

Is that in preparation for the owners test?

If that’s right then they are running two parts of the process at the same time so yes iit seems they will be assured that whoever the preferred bidder is they will know that the PL have passed all parties in that bid as being fit and proper

So before Arsenal on 20/4 it’s possible that everything could be sealed and settled
