🚨 Sources close to rival bids, believe Raine wants to sell Chelsea to the Ricketts and their backer Griffin. The rationale is that they are proven, ready and well-connected. (Athletic) #CFC

Noooooo….

From what I understand though Raine have very little say in the actual sale of the club, and are just acting as the middle man. I think the final decision will still be made by Chelsea and potentially Roman.

That’s true - though I suppose they may provide a recommended/preferred buyer but the decision will be made by the board.

Was listening to Atheltic podcast and they said it will go quite for a couple of weeks now as the 4 buyers have until 12th April to submit more firmer ideas and plans. The final decision will then be made at the end of the month.

Can't help but think that Raine are "allowing more time" under Roman's direction to buy him a bit of time. Who knows where we will be with regards to sanctions etc in a month from now?

I would be very surprised if they unsanction Roman, I don’t see it happening. The govt won’t back track. It would be great but the damage is done unfortunately. Romans name is mud now.

Plus, Putin is a mad dictator who won’t go quietly.

Putin and Roman's connection to him won't be forgotten, so I am pretty sure he's selling.

However, things have moved fast over the past month, so if the sale takes another month, can never be sure where we'll land.

Boehly’s consortium are favourites to win the contest to own Chelsea, and they are already in talks over the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge so that things can get moving right away should they buy the club.

I’m still really surprised that the stadium redevelopment is a big part of the bid given the complications. Doesn’t make sense from a sporting perspective knowing the costs and what happened with Arsenal and Spurs. If I was Raine, I would want to know how buyers would mitigate the risk of dropping OUT of the top 4 due to the redevelopment (selling of good players, transfer market etc)

The stadium redevelopment is pretty much the biggest part of our future as a club, its easily the most important part of any future ownership.

They have been the favorites of the press since day one.

I've always wondered if Roman was to sell half of the club, would we still be part of sanctions then, if for example an American owned 50%?

With the claim of Abramovich and others being poisened, it may not be Putin doing this yet a faction close to the Russian military that do not want reconciliation and have to do things covertly.

We just don't know.

Not sure I quite agree with  it being the most important part of the future but there is no doubt that after all the noise the uplift in capacity is a hot topic

I said some weeks ago that almost certainly the clubs agents will have been looking at what is and what isn’t possible and without doubt they will have been looking to cheaper alternatives.

It wasn’t much discussed but part of the original sanction banned development /building of the ground yet that bit seems to have dropped off.

Boehly has been trying to buy the club for 4 years to be fair. He's probably has mapped out the strategy years ago

This is no doubt his group and the Ricketts have the advantage. I see it as difficult for the other two groups to come close.

Now that we're in the final bit of the owner exchange process and Roman is actively trying to mediate peace, why is the club still unable to sell tickets and merchandise?

Because we are CHELSEA FC

Some around the #Chelsea sale process have had the impression that Bruce Buck has been advocating the Ricketts family/Ken Griffin bid for a while.

We just don't know what is going to happen. My gut is telling me it is going to be the Ricketts, even before the news of this connection came out. Really don't want them anywhere near the club, to be honest. All the things Chelsea have done for people during the pandemic just doesn't fit the ethos of the Ricketts. The threats they have made to pull a stadium out of Wrigleyville if they didn't get what they wanted, to not include as much handicap accessible seating to cut costs... everything about the Ricketts is not inclusivity. It is all about exclusivity and making the most money for them. Competitive balance, and putting a winning team on the pitch doesn't matter as long as the club will be lining their pockets.

They don't need more money. They need to stay the hell away from our club. I will drive my happy ass to Chicago and sit outside Wrigley Field with a sign. idgaf

Why did the Ricketts meet Canners?

They were probably trying to convince The King that they’re not bigoted, racist c**ts. I don’t think it worked.

What I thought too but it makes little sense. Canners is a legend and loves our club deeply but he has zero say who ends up buying the club and even of they did change his mind about them it won't help their bid.

Whoever has the most political clout/bribes likely will.

You will either get to see them or a Swiss billionaire who cares nothing about football and a Spurs fan in our seat of power imo. Either way, grim thought.

New here, Cant believe what's going on tbh

That is a wild read, They're admitting to wanting the club on its knees

Roman has put in billions to the club, Why would he need to skimp ticket sales?

All lies!

Although they're trying to say russia have been naughty again that Mariupol place is in the south an absolute mission away from Kyiv

You'd hope they are happy controlling the ports so they can help china get all the resources they will need on top of what they have and it will all blow over but I fear too many have died now and we're looking at afghan 3.0!
