More from thr Ricketts camp:

"a statement from Laura Ricketts read: "Obviously, I can’t comment on talks we had with Chelsea officials because that has to remain confidential. But I can say we had very informative and enjoyable meetings with some passionate fan groups – in particular with Tracy Brown from Chelsea Pride and Kerrie Evans from Chelsea Women Supporters Group.

"We also met Sanjay Bhandari, the Chair of Kick It Out, and it was wonderful to hear about all the work he’s doing. We admire their approach and would like to introduce them to Major League Baseball.

"Tracy Brown reminded me of a lot of people I know and have worked with in Chicago – leaders who put themselves out there for their community. She loves Chelsea and wants herself and her community to be acknowledged and to have a voice. We agreed to stay in touch, starting with a Zoom next week with me and the Founder of Out at Wrigley, an annual LGBTQ+ event that the Cubs have hosted at Wrigley Field since 2001.

"I was also thrilled to go to the Chelsea Women’s game at the weekend and I flew in early to make the match. It was a joy to see the incredible athletic talent of the Chelsea Women and to also experience the supporters’ amazing energy at Kingsmeadow.

"Much of my life’s work has been about empowering and supporting women, so to see these young women playing at this level was a real treat for me. It was also so great to see all the families who were at the game. Sport has such power to bring communities together and family is at the heart of the community. Some of the girls there reminded me of my 11-year-old daughter. For young girls to see the Chelsea Women on the pitch can be inspiring and empowering to them

"In recent weeks, we’ve also had several valuable conversations with the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust. I appreciate their passion for Chelsea and the important questions they’ve raised. I look forward to continuing the good conversations we’ve begun.

"We all need to be listening and speaking up, and I feel a particular responsibility because of the position I’m in. We’re not going to be able to persuade all the fans right away that we will be good stewards of Chelsea – we’re going to have to show them with meaningful action if we are successful in our bid. But I can assure all Chelsea fans that it has been my life’s work to fight against discrimination and bigotry of any kind.

"Coming out as an LGBTQ+ woman has influenced my perspective and sensitivity about diversity and inclusion. I can’t know what it’s like to walk in another person’s shoes, but I can begin to understand and have an awareness of their different experience. And that’s a gift. In the position that I’m in, I feel a sense of responsibility to be an advocate. To me, being an advocate means speaking up, and also listening.

"When we assumed responsibility for the Chicago Cubs and its legacy, we immediately realised that teams like the Cubs don’t belong to one person or organisation. They belong to the fans. We’re stewards – and we’re answerable to the fans. That’s how we see it in Chicago – and it would be exactly the same at Chelsea.

"There is such power in sport for community building and to bring diverse people together. At Cubs Charities, we have developed our own sport-based youth development programming that engages young people and families in under-served communities. As the Chair of Cubs Charities, I am proud of our work and the impact it has on so many lives.

"Here, the Chelsea Foundation already makes a significant impact and I would hope we could help build on this.

"We strive to be champions both on and off the field. It’s what makes Chelsea great, and is a tradition we would honour if we were to become the club’s next stewards.""

On the Matt law podcast, he was saying Dan Gilbert has also joined the consortium and he is a very good operator. Also said that Ken Griften will be the major shareholder.

He said Bohley is “overfunded” and has been very straightforward.

I do wonder despite the controversy, whether Ricketts will end up winning the bid because of the shear size of how much money they have behind them.

Can’t believe semi tickets have gone on sale at 2 extra per S T/ Member

Also more tickets have become available tomorrow as well. How can we be in this situation after the sanctions lifted?

Bids under scrutiny from the Premier League

Scrutiny of the four bids by English football's top flight has already got underway after the remaining consortia submitted details of their key investors to Raine late last week.

The Premier League is expected to take several weeks to evaluate those involved in the bids - who include a string of US billionaires and pillars of the British corporate establishment - and its work to approve all four of the bidders means the process may need to be extended.

One of the bidders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they now anticipated a final recommendation would be made to ministers later than the original target date of the week beginning April 18, with the deal now likely to be completed in May.

One of the bidders, who also spoke on condition of anonymity on Thursday, welcomed the additional time to finalise their bid given the complexity of the process taking place to buy the Blues.

By ministers, do they mean government ministers? If so, do ministers have to accept any football buyer (e.g. did they have to say yes to the Saudis in the case of Newcastle) or is it just in our case?

The only thing I can think of is that it is Easter and kids' holidays, other than that I really don't get it. We are always complaining that we don't get enough tickets and then we don't sell out in the first round.

If new owners won't be in place before May that's a bit ominous. We have a lot of work to do this summer and with new owners barely in the door that's not excactly ideal.

Hopefully they'll have some handing over period in place and let the present people behind the scenes working until they get fully up to speed. That would be the wise thing, for example, let Cech and Marina do their work together with Tuchel this summer while letting the new people learn from them.

Apathy I would imagine Richard it's been a tough time for all Chelsea fans some probably just waiting for this madness to end. I've got mine looking forward to it although not the same sort of buzz as Luton 94 😁

I wouldnt be surprised if a fair few had just assumed they can't get tickets.

Stories have emerged suggesting that the UK government have concerns over Ricketts ownership of #CFC, while one rival bidder was reported by The Times to have voiced concerns that the Ricketts group were being given favourable treatment in the bidding process.

🚨LA Dodgers principle owner Mark Walter joins bid to buy #Chelsea led by Boehly. The addition of Walter, who has a real-time net worth of $4.4bn figures to put the Boehly group on even stronger financial footing. Boehly is regarded as the favorite to purchase Chelsea. (Athletic)

Yes the government. They only have have a say in us due to the sanctions that are still in place and would need to grant a special license for the club to be sold.

Most sources say this is not going to be a problem and that they will be happy to be shot of us.

Those stories are weeks old. The government will pass the buck to the PL fit and proper test, if they pass then the gov will accept them imo. Raine have an existing relationship with the Ricketts so I expect them to be the preferred bidder.

Either way with what happens, we all have to be realistic… Chelsea Football Club will never win a league title while Guardiola and Klopp are still are their two teams; we ought to hope and I really mean HOPE, that Manchester United don’t end up coming back with a top manager. This entire club has been living off poor management from the ground up for a long time; we’ve ridden the luck of winning a Champions League which papered over countless cracks. Our performances have been bang average all season; a true reflection of where we currently are. A top 4 contender that relies on the others to be worse in order to finish ahead of them. New owners and new cash will not mean success. I genuinely believe.  Chelsea will only dine at the top table in England again when City/Liverpool change guard. Until that time comes they need to build the right foundations to ensure we can step in to their shoes. Completely f**king forget about it for another 2/3 seasons though; the bigger boys haven’t finished their cycle yet.

Isn't the marked bit the essence of a competition, whether it's a league or a knock-out system? Every spot in a league and every result in a knock-out stage reflects a tean vis-a-vis the opponent(s), give or take a few refereeing decisions.

You may be right about the expected dominance of clubs managed by Guardiola and Klopp, and us being average to minging,, but being in 3rd spot accurately reflects the results of 20 teams until today. We may not finish the season in 3rd, but that too will be representation of the season of those 20 teams.

Pretty much mate; just essentially what I said in different words. Although the context is the same. I don’t want to be misinterpreted with it, it is competition but the reality of where we are now is being a part of that competition for a top 4 spot. However, we’ve been very fortunate that a lot of our rivals for that position have been pretty poor for a while now. Whilst we are inconsistent (considering the value of this current team), the likes of United, Spurs and even Arsenal, have been outright abysmal!
