Pretty much mate; just essentially what I said in different words. Although the context is the same. I don’t want to be misinterpreted with it, it is competition but the reality of where we are now is being a part of that competition for a top 4 spot. However, we’ve been very fortunate that a lot of our rivals for that position have been pretty poor for a while now. Whilst we are inconsistent (considering the value of this current team), the likes of United, Spurs and even Arsenal, have been outright abysmal!

We are on track for 77 points. Which is easily a top 4 points total in every season in PL history.

Coming 4th means being inconsistent. It means losing games.

Both the Bohley bid and Team Griffin offers have "promised" the fans the "golden share" in the club.

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2022/4/10/23018725/boehly-ricketts-bids-to-offer-chelsea-fans-golden-share-report

Both Bohley and Sir Martin intend to offer far more power to the CPO, not mentioned where the golden share would go to from the Griffin bid.

Pagliuca apparently has not talked to either the CPO CST yet...not a great look.

Griffin and Gilbert say all the right things about fans and winning teams.

“I am thrilled to come together with my long-time friends and partners, the Ricketts Family and Dan Gilbert, who have built legendary championship teams.

“All of us love to compete and, even more, we love to win. Our group will work closely together to put the most competitive team on the pitch every year. If selected, we will validate the trust placed in us to continue Chelsea’s winning tradition while delivering a terrific game day experience for the fans.”

-Ken Griffin; source: Mirror

“We are excited to join the Ricketts Family and Ken Griffin for their bid to acquire Chelsea, one of the most admired football clubs and professional sports teams in the world. We have great respect and deep admiration for the long and winning tradition of Chelsea and their millions of fans across the world.

“[We] will approach the bid for Chelsea with the same philosophy as we operate our other professional sports teams: an open mind and a listening ear to the fanbase, ample investment and an unwavering commitment to both winning on the pitch and serving the community.”

-Dan Gilbert; source Mirror

All four Chelsea bidders have expressed desire for Marina Granovskaia to stay. She won’t decide until Chelsea are sold - depends on their proposal and her plans.

Don't think Marina is some saviour. But would make sense for her to remain at least over this summer so i'm all for that.

But a brand new policy on incomings is very needed in my opinion. Much better long-term and forward planning is needed and I hope that's something new owners will focus on implementing. Also except that we will look to bring in a lot more on the commercial side with our new owners so hopefully they can make that happen as well.

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't we get behind the Ricketts/Griffin if they win? Due to their old man being a closet racist and getting caught out on it in the media? We need to sometimes think of the bigger picture; as human beings we are immensely fickle and I can almost guarantee that were they to succeed, none of the bad press would matter one bit. There's clearly much more going on behind the scenes. If the Ricketts can show that the words from Ricketts Snr. remain those of an old man brought up in an era of ignorance towards other cultures, let them have a go at it. People can be educated; the opinions of 1 man doesn't represent the opinions of all. I, for one, can bet my left bollock you've all got someone in your families of similar generation who has made you choke on your proverbial cuppa having come out with something non-PC.

For f**k sake people, I'm not justifying it but we need to start accepting that you CAN'T vilify entire organisations over 1 man; the exact same thing has happened with Roman and Chelsea ffs. Get a bloody grip.

Let's just hope whoever does takeover gets our support. I have no doubt the Ricketts will do everything they can to support all cultures and diversity, should they be successful.

With the Ricketts having a huge amount of wealth behind them, I wonder if Raine will go with them. Boehley is apparently “overfunded” as well but I don’t what that quite means.

As long as the new owners invest in the club and make us bigger and better than that's all that matters.

Yes and no. They need to also have sustainability and be diverse in their approach.

However seeing people jump on the 'anti-Ricketts' bus due to comments from their old man (who won't even be involved in the club) and because it's popular amongst Chelsea Twitter is outright embarrassing. People can't think for themselves.

Bigger and better meant in everything we do, so of course sustainability and diversity are paramount in that, 100%.

We don't want owners who want to leech off of the club.

The Ricketts Family Investment Group's bid for #Chelsea will be well-received by the Government despite fan backlash.

Roman Abramovich will attempt to buy Spanish club Valencia once the sale of Chelsea is completed, a rival bidder in the process has claimed.

I would expect the government just want shot of us and the responsibility they currently have with us.

Would expect she goes to Valencia if Roman buys them.

It isn't related to the old man's comments but the outward show is it is because of that. There The main reason is how they have run the Cubs into the ground selling all their top players. It is understandable people don't want them for that reason but difficult to protest with Cubs banners.

The problem is the Ricketts don't invest in the team they currently own the Chicago Cubs.

Major League Baseball is probably the American pro-sport that is run the most like European soccer.  In Major League Baseball you can spend as much as you want on wages but if you spend over a certain amount you have to pay what they call a Luxury tax on it.  So basically it still means who has the most money has the best chance to win.  So it makes for a great comparison.

So if you go look at the list of Major league baseball salaries the Cubs are #15. . . slightly below league average in the 3rd largest Media market (read potential fan base size) in the country.

https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/

What is particularly bad about this is that the Chicago White Sox are #7, spending about 60 million a year more than the Cubs.  What is worse about that is that I live fairly close to Chicago in relative terms and I can tell you that the Cubs are far more popular than the White Sox.

So the Rickett's spends $60 million less dollars a year on their team than another team in the same city that is less popular than their team is.

I would say they are better than Woody Johnson because Woody Johnson is spectacularly incompetent.  But the Ricketts seem like they could be perfectly happy with making and leaving Chelsea as a mid table team.

I say all of the following as an American.

I feel like, like it or not we may be stuck with American owners because our country has so many of them and if it costs 3 billion buy the club you are likely going to need an American or a Saudi.

That said the problem that comes with American ownership is that in the US, pro-sports are an extremely profitable business that in some cases it's pretty much impossible to lose money at.  So American owners will likely look at Chelsea as an investment to turn a profit for them.  Less likely to look at is as a way to show off (ala Roman)

I think that is the worry - they will kill us and keep us mid table while probably hiding behind “stadium redevelopment” costs.

Boehley feels like the safest option from what we know. There’s too much controversy around the Ricketts.

As far as I understand it they were Top 5 in payroll for most of the past 5-6 years. Now they are in a bit of a rebuild phase and have cut some of their underperforming star players that were earning huge money. They also won the World Series while investing about a billion into Wrigley Field which is impressive in my opinion.

To me that simply sounds like sensible business decisions. Not to mention that it sounds like Griffin/Gilbert will be the majority stakeholders in this case and they both have a ton of cash.

But why would they do that?

It doesn't make any sense. Why pay billions for something to let it's value fall?

I don't know or care about baseball, but no one's buying us to let us slide down the table. They are buying us to make us the biggest club in the world.

Why should he wait?

He isn't  getting any proceeds from this sale.

And he is already disqualified isn't he?

I guess that’s what the Cubs’ fans are asking themselves. I’m not against the Ricketts’ bid or prefer any other, I’m on the fence, but why would they own the Cubs to let them slip down the table as some of the Americans in here have mentioned? If they do become the next Chelsea owners, I hope that we don’t find ourselves asking that ourselves too. Just look at ManU. Now, I’m not saying that wouldn’t be happening with the other bids either, it’s just a risk we’ve been forced to take and I trust that Roman will ultimately make the right decision as he’s got Chelsea’s interest at heart.

They can make money from a mid table club if they manage transfer spendings and wages I guess...Maybe become a selling club with a good academy..

I hope that's not the case..

The Ricketts - my problem with them is their track record of the sports side. The racism thing is a minor problem. Media will drag it up but I think they will do what is good for the club in that sense.

Pagliuca - Needs to sell Atalanta first which could take time.

Boehly - looks a good setup. Not bothered about that Spurs fan at all.

Broughton - I have heard least from this group. Them being British feels right. Coe is a good addition.
