Would rather he stay with the squad and start in the carabao and FA cup games You're quoting the post from February. That was before his FA Cup masterclass against Liverpool that made such an impression on everyone.

To be fair, I think there’s still a case to be had about sending him on loan. Sometimes loans are the best thing to happen to a player.
July 7, 20206 yr Here's who we have currently in our main squad: ---- Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Kovacic, RLC, Mount, Gilmour. Here's who we have currently out on loan: ---- Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Gallagher and Ampadu Here's who we're linked with and looking to sign: ---- Havertz, Milinkovic-Savic if we do sign both Havertz and Savic, what do you think our midfield crop should be for this season? For me we sell: ---- Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Kante and maybe one of Barkley or Ruben, if not keep both. Out on loan: ---- Gallagher, Ampadu First Team: ---- Jorginho, Kovacic, Havertz, Savic, Mount, Gilmour, Barkley/Ruben

Also note sure how Kante is in the sell column and Jorginho in the keep column, particularly not after watching since the restart.

We can sell quite a few players (not just midfielders) to fund both Havertz and SMS. Especially if we sell one of Jorginho and Kante as well as they will both fetch high fees (50-70m each) Also Jorginho and Kante are interchangeable for me, I just think 1 of them is definitely going and although Jorginho seems the more likely I still would prefer to keep him over Kante as Kante just seems to be getting more and more injuries and just not as good in more forward positions. Only keep Kante if he can stay free from injuries and he plays int he DM role, otherwise I would sell. Edited July 7, 20206 yr by driller97
July 7, 20206 yr Why would we sign two additional midfielders for an already overcrowded midfield when it's clear that we need a new keeper and defenders? If we get rid of Jorgi signing Savic as an additional CM makes sense since Kova and Kanté can play both DM and CM, but if Havertz comes Mount or Barkley (one needs to be sold) will see a huge drop in gametime and I doubt RLC will play at all. The point is that Jorginho and Barkley both look like they're going to be sold though.. Bringing in Savic and Havertz. (not to mention a few others we're selling as well to fund these) Not disputing that we definitely need defenders though, because we do.

Declan Rice would be a good fit because of his ability to cover LCB. Havertz won't be signed for CAM imho, but to drift in from the flanks and to play as a second striker. Rumours of a £10m bid from Crystal Palace for Gallagher, if we sign Havertz he's gone imho. For me I'd be happy with Kante, Rice, Kovacic, Barkley, Mount, RLC next season. Fluidity (Kante/Kovacic/Mount), physicality (Rice/Barkley/RLC), and, hopefully, goals (Barkley/Mount/RLC). Edited July 7, 20206 yr by the special one
July 7, 20206 yr Kante, Mount, Ruben, Kovacic are players we are building the team around so to say. Barkley, Jorginho are the questionmarks. Gilmour could go out on loan if that is the case.

Jorginho almost definitely looks like hes going at this point but Rice is not exactly a replacement for him. I think Rice is being bought in to play as a CB but he's versatile so can cover both. if we play 4-3-3 I can absolutely see Havertz playing in the midfield 3 and not the front 3. I don't see the hype for Havertz as a second striker or anything, I see him more as a playmaker and assister, kind of how KDB is for City. Id be happy with that list you gave too in all fairness, but I just dont see Havertz playing in a front 3 when we already look pretty stacked there with Ziyech, Werner and Pulisic. All depends on the formation of course, but Havertz definitely feels better in a midfield 3 for me. Same goes for Savic if we decide to go in for him as well.

July 8, 20206 yr Although we have flare and possession based players, i fear we are out muscled, who is the 'Henderson' in our team, when the chips are down Azpi isn't the captain we need, Gilmour really needs maybe a year to grow into the position he is destined to fulfil, but not yet, RLC has the physicality of a Viera, but doesn't boss the middle like he should, the Lazio midfielder sergej milinkovic-savic would be ideal. Agree with this here. He is a beast, however not sure we can sign him without offloading some of our current crop first, especially if Havertz is coming in as well. Personally I wouldn't mind offloading Kante and Barkley to sign him

July 8, 20206 yr Do you 'Old shedders', just clickbait for fun, wake up an see the world, not just through 'Chelsea blue' tinted specs, Henderson would walk into our team, who apart from maybe Pulisic, and maybe Kante would get in the current Scouse team, and i doubt Pulisic would oust Mane!
