Calm down mate. He's a decent Prem level centre back who loves the club and bleeds blue. Put in some good performances last season and looks like a leader on the pitch. Obviously not VVD level or anywhere near, but a good player to have in our squad.Good ole Trev! He's just not very good and I strongly dislike players that aren't very good getting spoken about as if they're saviours.Especially, and this fanbase is very guilty of it, when the arguments for defending this specific crop of player (Mount / Gallagher / Chalobah) hangs its hat on “leadership“ or, "playing for the badge” or, “getting it” because the usage of these devices allow an amount of importance that their ability cannot justify. If you're propping up Chalobah to heights where you're leveraging him against modern era defining talents at the position like Saliba, or even god-forbid VVD, then you're an enemy of this club and an enemy of progress.

He was brilliant for us for a couple of seasons before fading off. But rightly deserved praise. Gallagher was very good for us. Clearly a limited player but his work rate was second to none and it was sorely required during a period of instability. If supporters have an affinity with a player because they identify with them in some respect due to a mutual love of the club then I'd argue they can hardly be called an enemy.

More concerning though what is your weird obsession with Saliba?! He’s a system centre back in the most anti football team in the Prem? There are a LOT better CB’s in this league than Saliba 😂 In fact Nottingham Forest have 2 ffs!Side note kid, lay off the weird JW bashing as well, it’s proper noncey to pick on a man for his religious beliefs.

His lack of eye for a through ball or clever pass and weight of pass was truly appalling. At the end of the day, these sorts of players can exist as squad players at big clubs. If that was the expectation for Mount or Gallagher or Chalobah, then who could complain really? But I was having to see Chelsea fans say Mount > Foden, when they aren't in the same bracket of talent. I was seeing "Gallagher is our best player" last season to put down the big money flops in Caicedo and Enzo last season which was pretty disheartening. And now the conversation is happening with Chalobah after a good performance against PSG, which nobody can take away from him. He deserves his plaudits for that game, but it's one game.I do find it funny how NONE of the players that were hyped up have done anything since leaving and it's because naturally they've found a more fitting place within the lineup of their new club. Gallagher is already out of the plans at Atleti, no injuries.I think when it comes to Chalobah he's just run-of-the-mill and it shouldn't be a crime to opinionate that or to want a star CB at this club to partner Levi. We haven't challenged for the league in nearly a decade at this point and some of us would actually like to experience what that feels like again. Edited August 1, 2025Aug 1 by drool winner

I suggest you watch him play more often, he's brilliant on the ball but a phenom in defensive situations. So fast and strong and tall with freakish anticipation and reading of the game.I'm not the only one obsessed with him, Madrid have been courting him for years now.@ me when Chalobah gets a (reputable) link to Madrid and I'll do more than just delete my account. I'll perform the act of seppuku.

I LOVED Lewis Hall.I loved Mount until 21-22, I never could understand the Gallagher infatuation or the Chalobah infatuation, or god forbid, the Alfie Gilchrist infatuation...Anyways, I don't want to pollute this thread more than I already have.I accept that my position on Chalobah is of the minority and I respect rooting for one of Cobham's very own to thrive and succeed at this club as it's a good story. I just believe we can do (far) better and I'll be rooting for that from my own corner.

Was a fan of Mount, injuries have let him down badly. Imagine the work rate in midfield if both he and gallagher were still at the club. I suspect we'd lock most midfields down. Both super industrious players and Mount most definitely has an eye for a pass. Is Chaolbah a good defender... yes... he is, you dont play for England if your not good enough. You dont get called back from being booted out of a club if your not better than the crop of players on the books. We got top four... he was instrumental to that when in the side. Saliba is good top four defender and an international like our own Mr Chalobah. Not bigging him up as the next big thing but hes entering his prime in the next couple of seasons and we look solid with him in the back line. Be happy we might have a settled defence this season because he'll be part of it if not sold to balance the books.

Be happy we might have a settled defence this season because he'll be part of it if not sold to balance the books.I respect your response and you were very respectful about it.Mount is a decent squad player, but being our B2B POTS was just unwarranted. Especially that second one which was stolen from one of our defenders. The thing is, before Mount was sold, you couldn't convince a large sect of Chelsea fans that he was actually not the player we needed him to be and was rather poor in the attacking third. Brilliant presser and had some technical pop in tight spaces but at the end of the day, Mount had 9 open play assists in his Chelsea career. This is spanning 100+ starts. Palmer had 11 open play assists in 2023/24 alone.Mount connected on 22 through ball in four seasons at Chelsea. Palmer had 27 in his debut season alone. The fact that he was getting propped up as our starboy were for reasons that stretched beyond his ability on the pitch. He was propa Chels and a fantastic boy in the community, he had that connection with Lampard and helped steer the ship that season with the transfer ban - but his hype went way too far and I blame more than just the injuries for why he's failed to kick on at United.I think it's the same thing with Chalobah, even more-so. Mount had more natural talent than Chalobah or Gallagher. Reece, CHO and RLC were a cut above. Reece fulfilled his potential, I think he's one of the greatest of all time at that position based on peak and pure attribute. Shut down ever single top LWer and was incredible going forward. CHO and RLC suffered career altering injury.Chelsea is a supermassive institution and the bar for a banner and adoration at this club IMO is a level greater than what Mount or Chalobah reached and I truly believe he can be upgrade on. It's not that I have some sort of personal vendetta against the guy chasing his dream. If he stays as a squad player or even improves, fair play to him. I'm not omniscient or claim to be some sort of oracle on football. If he bounces out though like Mount and Gallagher before him, I don't think we'll notice barring we get the right player in to replace him. Edited August 1, 2025Aug 1 by drool winner

All Palace cared for was retaining Olise for an extra season, they upped his contract and added in a release clause and went on their merry way.

August 1, 2025Aug 1 I wonder how exactly you go about tapping up a player these days?Everything is done is reverse. It used to be club to club, permission given, speak to the player/agent.Now it’s done via the agent first, does this mean because there’s a third party you haven’t ‘tapped’ up the player directly even though that agent is passing all the info straight to his client? In today’s world every transfer could be considered’tapping’ up because like I said it’s all done in reverse and personal terms and the fact the player is willing to move is all done before the clubs discuss fee.As for the homegrown discussion, kids coming through our youth team always have and always will be given that bit of extra time and support. Can’t change it, won’t change it, wouldn’t want too.

Really wanted to like the kid, but felt he wasn't good enough. When he came back to us on loan, he was good. Very good. I was surprised that we recalled him. Again, i think he has good physical attributes, etc, which you need in a CB, but I was not convinced by his ball playing abilities. August 1, 2025Aug 1 All this is being based upon our perceptions of what he might ultimately achieve and the level that he may get to at some point. In reality, to date, he hasn't done anything to warrant such skepticism. Also statistically his figures align to the actual eye test from what has been in front of us all upon his return, unlike Jackson.I am definitely not an advocate of statistical based decision making, as stats can easily be manipulated to align with bias and i feel that the eye test on a week to week basis, is just as important. But combined they can help with informed judgement, if not on the potential future outcomes, certainly on what is currently in front of.Whenever i look at these Stat comparison sites for the players that are in the range of possible replacements, Upamecano, Tapsoba, Silva, Guehi, etc, Chalobah either comes out on top or the differences are negligible. Therefore, for me, the only reason why he is perpetually in this position, is because of the benefits of horse trading. Selling him for pure profit, getting in somebody slightly inferior but with an amortisation of their fee. For me, if we are looking to sort out the personnel in our defence, no way is Chalobah head of the queue. Of course the reality is, despite the twitter hot air there is no concrete interest being shown in either Disasi, Badiashile or (the rated but broken) Fofana.
