Trevoh Chalobah has been discussed by AC Milan in recent hours but at the moment, agent contacts for Koni De Winter, who could progress soon.

They better not..

I thought they wanted Jackson? Then Hoiljund?

I'm not sure Chalobah can play centre-forward, but I guess it would be worth a try ahead of those two.

Big fan of Chalobah, but his form so far this season has been awful. The ball from Enzo last night was terrible, but Chalobah should have been on it before the Lincoln player. Even in my school days I was taught never to wait for the ball. I also think him charging up to the half way line only to mess up the tackle has left us exposed too often this season.

It's starting to look like he really is one of those CB's that tends to shine when he has a top CB playing next to him.

Agreed, he needs to be take out and replaced with Josh.

He is what he is. A decent CB but never going to be top like a JT or Silva. He would be fine being rotated but he shouldn't be starting every game, yet that is where we are with our totally unbalanced squad.

The bigger concern is not Chalobah going to the middle and tackle. The bigger concern is your cb cannot handle 1v1 in open space.

It is utterly insane that we have come to this - under Tuchel we had James/Azpilicueta/Silva/Rudiger, 4 of the best 1v1 defenders ever to play for the club

That is probably not the most insane part. In the last 3 seasons I have seen many player that looks like they don't belong here.

Many of fans opinions of Chalobah kinda remind me of Gallagher.

Gallagher n Chalobah shoud not start every game. You can say that for everyone in our team except Palmer, Caicedo, hopefully Colwill and with big question mark James.

But because Chalobah n Gallagher are so versatile, poch n now maresca play them all the time.

I'm all for backing Cobham, and no one can fault Trev's professionalism at the club. Simply put, he deserves better, but is an honest professional, and for that I am grateful.

Footballing wise, a rough Sep for Trev. There is more to it than one player, but I can't look past his involvements:

  • vs. Fulham - engaged to win the ball in their half, leaving so much space in behind. Goal was overturned

  • vs. Brentford - engaged higher up leaving acres of space again (although Tosin and Fofana never got close enough). Was one of four faffing around for the equalizer

  • vs. Munich - own goal (perhaps unlucky) and positioning for third goal (albeit Gusto's mistake)

  • vs. Lincoln - asleep, didn't go to ball

  • vs. Utd - again contested a ball, lost, and allowed space for player to run in behind

  • vs. Brighton - team mistake, should have avoided the player and taken 1-1, but down to 10 again

Many contributing factors, but Trev is the constant in all the above. How much I miss players like Silva that know when they won't win the first but drop off to win the second ball every time. A poor run of form and looks a little lost out there right now.

Plus Andreas rotating often--not a fantastic player 1x1, but definitely a strong ball-playing CB.
Challobah isn't good enough to start for us. He's a good player, but not the quality we need to fight for silverware.

He may not be starting quality for a challenging team but he’s, with Colwill injured, the best option we have at CB. And that’s a sad state of affairs after all the money spent. I’d like to see Acheampong more often now and see how Hato develops as well as CB.

Part of the problem for me is the extent that the manager is messing about with the personnel at the back.

In our last 6 games, he's rotated the right back every game, had 5 different centre back combinations (player/left vs right position) and kept the same left back once.

How are we expecting any of our defenders to play well as a unit with this level of churn ?

Factor in the full backs consistently going AWOL thanks to Maresca's obsession with having them everywhere EXCEPT at full back ... and we are where we are !

As with the attacking parts of the side, the same can be said for the defenders, they're trying to do to much, football is a simple game, players playing in familiar positions helps... Trev looked like a world beater at Palace and was our best CB, we brought him back from loan... really not the players that is the issue.

VS Fulham, go stepped on by king.

VS Brentford, there were 2 v 1 at the back, 0 danger. If you cannot get the defend this, you cannot play for big club.

VS Munich, there is no universe the ball can pass Cucu, Tosin n Sanchez.

Lincoln, insane pass by Enzo

United, Chalobah is bad in the air.

Brighton, 100% on Santos

You need to look at it from offensive pov. Maresca basically want  3 diamond 3 shape offensively.

Colwill/Tosin as ccb, a left footer as lcb. So he will play player who will fit this system. He has been doing this since last season.

Been rubbish past few weeks.

I actually thought all of our defenders did okay against Forest tbh. I thought most of our first half issues came from some kamikaze passing in midfield areas and the fact that we were playing with 9 what with both Gusto and Garnacho on the pitch.
