Trevoh Chalobah

One of my favourite players.

The way he’s been treated this season was diabolical but he just came back and did his job. That’s what I love about him, he’s very consistent and you know you’re in safe hands with him unlike the Monaco pair.

For me he is one of the most crucial squad players and I won’t be happy if he’s sold this year. Every team in the world would love to have a player like Chalobah.

So i had the England game on last night. It was a bit like watching Coronation Street. I got bored after a while and turned off to watch some Youtubers going on about our embarrassing attempts in the transfer window. When i then returned to the England game, like Corrie, the plot was still exactly the same. Laboured and boring.

Anyway, one of the few highlights (in my totally unbiased opinion of course) was that Trev was one of the best players in our team. Good and bad. Good for Trev that he was so effective and comfortable on his England debut. Bad cos we shouldn't be pleased that a CB on his first call up is the best player.

Also, i have looked at Trev in comparison to a number of the CBs that we have been linked with and that we see puff piece tweets about, including Guehi. In all instances Trev seems to come out as the best option . Squawka i think i did that on and one other site.

Anyway, just thought i'd share!

Had me worried early one when he was getting dragged up the pitch far too often, but settled early after that and had a superb game.

For me, Chalobah belongs safely to the group of senior CBs we should be using in the PL/CL next season. That also incudes Colwill, Tosin, Fofana (if he can get/stay fit?) and Veiga (if we can keep him?). If we sell anybody, it should be Disasi and/or Badiashile, but of course that would be less appealing from a "pure-profit" point of view. We don't even need to sign anybody in defence, although a proper back-up for Cucu would be nice, assuming Chilwell gets sold/loaned out again.

Clearlake will be adding another 20m to his pricetag now.

In my complete honest opinion, over the course of a PL season, I don't think he's really good enough to be more than a squad player, but if he's ok with that, that's fine. Get rid of Disasi, Badishelle (I swear I spell his name wrong in a new and unique way every time I try to type it), and probably Fofana as well.

Trev is a reliable, versatile, and decent player - who should 100% stay with us based on quality. He has proven it, over and over again. Tosin is the same.

The issue is whether or not either want to hang around and play a rotation/squad role - because I dont think either are good enough to be regular starting CBs in teams that challenge for the EPL or UCL.

I don't understand this prevailing view he has to be a squad player.

Chalobah Colwill and Tosin have been the bedrock of one of the best defenses in Europe the last 3-4 months in front of a keeper who has an error in him.

At Chalobahs age, Van Dijk was still at Southampton. Cahill was at Bolton. Let's not forget that.

There is absolutely no need to sell him. Chalobah will walk through walls for Chelsea. I don't remember him putting a foot wrong.

He's my starting CB next season. Tosin is the rotation. We've got enough other players that can salvage us beyond that. Those three are good enough to win anything.
