Trevoh Chalobah

Featured Replies

Interesting player. Interesting to see what his future is with us.

To me it is clear he is good enough for a top Chelsea side to either start or be among rotation of the squad.

What is not clear is why he is always been sidelined by his numerous coaches over the years. He is 26 now, entered in his prime age, and to this day he's been more or less a pawn in the squad.

It has to be his personality. Maybe he is too submissive against his own interests. Part of being a footballer as well. You need a bit of those elbows sometimes and timing in terms when to shine.

I know next to nothing or the boy apart from being a perfect professional of a player. Big on his religion as well.

I hope we keep hold of him but in this financial climate European football is, Chalobah is in a perfect shop window situation in terms of money. He is pure profit to Chelsea if we are to sell him. He was also excellent throughout CWC. I think those great stats will pop up to other clubs as well.

I think people will look at him and see a top player like Guehi and make those connections between the two.

Rolls Royce CB

We were gaslit that he couldn't play Maresca-ball though. Anyone that came through the Chelsea or City academy will be the best ball players we have.

I've asked myself the same questions but when you have a big profit sign over your head it doesn't help. I have also thought, probably unkindly, that being a Jehovas Witness precludes some medical procedures being administered and this could prolong injury lay offs. He was out for quite a while with what seemed a run of the mill knock. Could be wrong on that.

For me he should never have gone out on loan and starts over Tosin.

Look at the positive he’d never be shy to knock on the managers door.

Only really blood transfusions are an issue for Jehova's Witnesses in general.

Chelsea's best central defender and an England international, helped us get back into the top 4 and didnt really put a foot wrong when recalled and put into the team. Can we have a show of hands from people who still think he isnt good enough please.

One of our own. Up there with Reece as an automatic starter and will get better as he ages.

@Matt_Law_DT: “There's definitely still some interest from Napoli in Chalobah but it is a lot different to previously. They're certainly not putting him around. They're certainly not saying he's for sale. They're certainly not encouraging bids.”

Hopefully he stays. Deserves to.

And a model pro, never complains just gets on with it. Maybe this has made him easy to drop for some managers.

Perfect squad player in that sense. One of our own, keep Trev all day long. Other CB’s can leave before him.

What does this guy have to do, seriously? face_palm

Fofana, who i like by the way, has only ever played 34 games for us, ever. Clearly Wes is still not fit enough for them to tempt Marseille into signing him, which they were mooted as trying to do.

Fofana needs to go out on loan for 6 months and prove he can stay fit. He's just a liability.

Ain't happening.

No club would take the risk of losing a central defender mid season and Chelsea wouldn't let him out of the care/sight of our medical team.

The one thing I find the most surprising is that there isn't a club that has gone out and given us 40 or 50m for him.

He'd be top of my list if I was at united.

Last summer with 2 years left on his contract Guehi bids were at £65 million from Newcastle and were rejected.

Guehi and Trev are at very similar points in their careers, similar age and both England internationals. So if we accept anything less than £70 million then I don’t see the logic.

No one came in for him at £40 million last summer so I don’t see any realistic bids coming in anyway.

He’s getting better and better though. I’d have punted him this time last year but not now. Integral part of the squad.

There is nothing change between last season and this season with Trev. Chalobah was a nailed down starter under Poch.

The way Maresca want to play suit Chalobah more than Disasi or Tosin.

I agree, but I just think if united or Newcastle bid 40m for him we'd accept.

For the life of me I don't know why they haven't even done that. He is, as you say, absolutely good enough.

I'm glad, and I'm hopeful now at least they might only sell him if they get 60/70m. Which is what is putting clubs off.

Was Chalobah Palace's first choice CB when he was there? He's not better than Guehi, Lacroix was performing better than him too. The level of being Chelsea's starting CB should be a player that's showing they're too good for a mid table side like Olise was. Or Huijsen and Zabarnyi at Bournemouth.

I get he had his best match against PSG, but so did Sanchez. Can't be prisoners of the moment and use that erase everything we've known about these players prior.

He's just not at the level of player that we need him to be to compete over a 38 game calendar. Far too mistake prone, average on the ball and indecisive at times defensively in 1 on 1s. I consider Chalobah & Tosin to be good squad options at best.

Prior to the PSG masterclass (all thanks to Maresca) Chalobah was on an uncanny run of performances unable to keep a clean sheet, while they were occuring when he was stapled to the bench.

Feels like a player people excessively rate as a way to dig at the ownership and the directors. This used to be the home of Carvalho, Terry, Luiz, Brana and even Cahill.

Sell this bum immediately for $PURE, helps us in terms of UEFA registration and allows us to take a step forward as a club.

The ‘uncanny’ run and his sh*t games at Palace:

Can there be a prerequisite that you have to actually watch football to be able to comment on the forum?

I'm sorry but he's just not at the level required.

Do you think he's on tier with Konate or Saliba or Van Dijk or Gabriel? Let's even think back to recent Chelsea CB. Is Chalobah on the same level as Christensen when he was here? Rudiger? Silva his first two seasons before he fell off a cliff? Absolutely not. I've never seen a player with a lower bar to clear than Chalobah. Even Colwill who's far superior has to do far more to get less praise.

He was Palace at was their 3rd or 4th best CB, left and they improved and won a trophy.

He's like our Joel Matip, but worse. Fine as a rotation level CB, but you don't want him starting week in and week out.

I'd also prefer developing a pathway for Acheampong who has more ability and deserves a runway to showcase it.

I'd say sell Tosin and keep "Trev", but Tosin seems far better for squad harmony and is less 'pick-me' in the media. Constantly attempting to cause division and farm sympathy.

The same way Madueke was shipped out for being obsessed with instagram wenches and being a strip club addict, the same way Raheem Sterling was an unserious professional and a detriment to the locker room, Chalobah and Fofana also fall under this bracket. Always something going on outside of football that's creating an unnecessary distraction.

Honestly I can't wait until he's sold because it's quite clear hierarchy do not rate him.
