Also means we could play a whole Cobham back line of actually good, and one great, defenders: James Acheampong Chalobah Colwill Or Acheampong Chalobah Colwill James We've missed Fofana terribly since he's been injured, especially with his direct runs from the back.

And we should, and stop this stupid inverting garbage. We need a solid defense again. We need to defend first. What is this nonsense Maresca is doing having full backs become midfielders and picking attackers based on how well they defend?! We need defenders to focus on clean sheet first and foremost, thank God Silva left and did not have to have this buffoon manage him. Not sure which version I like best, probably the bone with Colwill on the left. I tell you now that line will stop us bleeding goals IF they are allowed to be defenders first.

I disagree, his recovery pace has been crucial to our tactics and as i said him running out with the ball gave us an extra dimension. He's not been the Fofana we thought we were getting granted but he's by a distance the best RCB option. There's a reason he's been an untouchable starter under 4 different managers whenever he's been fit.
January 15, 20251 yr Well, if we need him, sensible decision, wtf are the board still doing... makes every decision since they arrived look senseless. but glad to have him back... You know he'll start the next game, give away a pen and score an OG.

This is his third season with us right? Missed all bar 6 weeks of the first season, all of the second season and this one he did manage 3 months before he down for the count again.
January 15, 20251 yr Loan return now confirmed on the Crystal Palace website. Our lot dragging their heels sadly ... I wonder what shirt number he's going to get ? They gave Felix his old #14, so I imagine he won't get that back. One out of 16, 26, 30 or 33 most probably ... 26 it is LOL

My guess out of those would be 33.

January 15, 20251 yr According the the PL website he's made as many errors leading to goals this season alone than Tosin and Badiashille have between them in the PL full stop. Interesting.

The Nicolas Jackson to his NNNJ being recalled must be a dark, dark day for him. It would be if we had competent defenders that he'd be taking game time from, but if him coming back means Disasi is out of the door I'll take it.
January 15, 20251 yr As a big Chalobah fan I'm delighted that he's back. Get him straight into the first XI until Fofana is fit. He can also cover right-back, any position in a back three, and feasibly holding midfield too, particularly given our bizarre (and continued) dearth of options in that position. That said, this is a farcical series of decisions by the sporting directors. They have (one can only assume) damaged our relationship with a fruitful (and local) loan destination club, damaged their and the management's relationship with Chalobah (and the players they have now decided he's better than), made us look like complete idiots on the national stage, and spent a sh*tload of money just to end up in a worse position than where we started. This is the latest in a series of contemptibly poor squad-building decisions which can only lead one to conclude that they should be removed from their positions immediately. They and the ownership have repeatedly proven themselves to be prideful, venal, and incompetent.
January 15, 20251 yr Interesting for Trev. Most have mentioned the words ok and squad player, so why come back to sit on a bench when getting so much game time.

Even with the two errors, he still has higher PL ratings this season than any of our players on both Whoscored and Sofascore. He's actually not far behind VVD either LOL Whoscored: Van Dijk 7.14 ; Chalobah 6.92 ; Fofana 6.75 ; Colwill 6.71 ; Tosin 6.66 ; Badiashile 6.52 ; Disasi 6.50 ; Acheampong 6.02 Sofascore: Van Dijk 7.21 ; Chalobah 7.14 ; Colwill 6.95 ; Fofana 6.93 ; Tosin 6.93 ; Disasi 6.88 ; Badiashile 6.95 ; Acheampong 6.50
