fiar enough if you think he'll play for us there. But still doesnt address the elephant in the room of Fofana, Desasi, Badashiel. forfana cant stay fit, Desasi I do quite like but has mistakes in him and isnt a right back, Badashiel also has a rick in him. It's simply an observation that one of our own is doing better than all three mentioned above in game time, consistency and goals. I know who I'd rather have at the club.

Chalobah is hardly a beacon of fitness either.

To put it into context, even if Fofana doesn't play again this season he was still avaliable longer than Chalobah was last.

I assume he’s never going to play for Chelsea again? Definitely a better player than Disasi & Badiashile. The remainder of the centre backs might have bigger reputations and higher ceilings than him but he could have probably done a job this season.

It's funny (well not really) but the excuses Maresca makes for the likes of him, Chilwell and Chukwuemeka needing to leave is partly because we "need to sell our players because of FFP"......but if we had never signed the likes of Badiashile, Disasi, Koulibaly and Fofana (for an absurd fee) we wouldn't need to sell these players at all.

I don't think Chalobah is world class or anything, although he does go on really good runs of form, but he's in no way worse than any of our current CB's.

He's been making mistakes for them this season and even got dropped a few games ago.

Talking solely RCBs Tosin is better (was an untouchable is a better 'mid table' side), Fofana is miles clear and also Josh probably will be before long if he isn't already.

He has made a few mistakes although their record has generally been much better with him in the starting 11. He has also managed a few goals.

Disagree about Fofana, he's made a ton of mistakes for us this season, I don't see what is so great about him, and he's injured again. Tosin has been in good form lately, but I don't think he has been exceptional or any better than Chalobah when he played for us last season.

Yeah I'm going to need to see some people sacked please.

And Fabrizo just said we are interested in bringing Guehi back.... This club, man, but tbf Guehi at least was sold before the new owners.

Hmm, let's see if we do. He was among that group of players the owners wanted to sell, not sure they will appricate the humiliation of needing to recall a player they blocked from going on the preseason tour.

As you pointed out, would be a risk to the sporting directors if they did for not properly replacing him.

Did they properly replace Gallagher though?

Didn't really look that good against us, rash slide in let Jackson in. Lucky for him was Jackson.

Tbh if it were up to me, I’d sign Guehi and bring Chalobah back in summer. That’s the replacements for Disasi and Badiashille sorted.

This.

Only 18 months left on current deal.

Trev will eventually be sold for pure profit,  it is what they have already decided for him. Conor performances last season did not change their minds, so I doubt trev does either.

Guehi would be cheaper in the summer, likely Palace will hold firm to a high price this month due to their relegation battle.

If we can recall Trev, we should. He should, in theory, get game time to help with his summer sale.

Honestly don't think Guehi is much difference level wise to Tomori, but I'd have Chalobah back in a heart beat.

Guehi is a far superior defender compared to Tomori in my opinion.

You're right regarding the aerial presence. Colwill is already poor as it is and Acheampong is a child.

Having just checked out Tomori, he's regressed from where I thought he was for sure, so fair point.

But I'm still not seeing anything particularly elite from Guehi here

Decent, but not elite ... not enough of an upgrade from what we already have for me, and certainly not for the touted fee.

Maybe we should just trust the kids ? It's not as if the senior players have made a compelling case for seniority in the last 3 seasons after all !

Two from Colwill, Acheampong, Anselmino ...  Chalobah in the mix too if he comes back.

Wouldn't Guehi be a Colwill alternative rather than partner? They are very similar players.

He plays on the left for Palace, but he is right footed, so I'd assume he could play  RCB with Colwill at LCB.

I mean my main preference is still Tah given he checks a lot of boxes. Experience. Aerial presence. Pace. Passing. Free.

Here's Trev's numbers  in comparison to Guehi

Surprised Trev isn't better in the air at 6'4" !

Palace have 0.95 points per game when Guehi has played this season, and 1.42 points when Chalobah has played, which is interesting ... and similar effect to what we saw when Trev came back from injury last year.
