July 23, 20241 yr https://www.transfermarkt.com/trevoh-chalobah/erfolge/spieler/346314 represented every England level from 16 to 21. Got some youth winners badges as well, linked above... If he was available from another club, we'd be sniffing around trying to sign him. Got to say, was a fan of his brother who had too many injuries to have a consistent top-flight career, think Trevor is a much better player and has always done a job for us when called into the side. Gues Tosin signing is a replacement. Its a strange one.
July 23, 20241 yr I definitely think it's a bad idea to sell him. Excellent squad player and no one knows how well our current cbs will do and if any of them will survive preseason on those horrible pitches I keep reading about! At least they should wait till preseason is over, in case of injuries and in case maresca sees sense and realises he's better than Disasi and Badiaschile.
July 24, 20241 yr In no way I say Chalobah is a great player ( yet), but he's more than equipped to play for this Chelsea team. Every team needs a squad player who's willing to step in whenever called upon , and not whining when on the bench. We are losing identity of academy grown players every season, soon kids won't even bother at the academy, knowing they will be sold at any signs of a profit.
July 24, 20241 yr Before this PSR " pure profit " academy player nonsense, we wouldn't even be thinking about selling Trev. Disasi and/or Badiashil would be the one's we would be urging the club to get rid of.
July 24, 20241 yr Whatever you think about Trev the way the club is trying to kick him out of the club is disrespectful. Give the guy some respect let him go on tour and look for a club when he gets back if that’s this case. This is indicative of how this administration will continue to do things. This club is an asset now to maximise revenue any means necessary.
July 24, 20241 yr Maresca has effectively confirmed that Chalobah is not part of his plans, having selected teenager Josh Acheampong ahead of him. "From my point of view it's always sad to leave players out of pre-season," admitted the Italian. "In the end they work every day for the same target; to be part of the team. We have Axel [Disasi] there, Tosin [Adarabioyo] there, Wesley [Fofana] is finally back, and some young players like Josh Acheampong. It's a sad decision but we had to make it."

I suppose it's the same at most top level clubs: they get an excellent footballing education, preparing them for a career. If they have functioning eyes in their heads, they've seen the majority of academy graduates have moved to other clubs, and only a few get decent minutes or even a regular place in the squad. Also, I would guess the club tell kids when they sign for the academy it's not a given that they become part of the first team, it's all about giving them a shot at a professional career. There is sentimentality with us supporters about "our own", because we are the ones who stick around for decades. For the players, young or old, it's about making a living, a club is their employer. Some get attached to it, hence tearful goodbye videos, some just move on to find employment elsewhere. It's almost like they're people like us (although I've never left a job in tears myself) 😝

Selling him isn't because he's not good enough , it's purely because of PSR. If it wasn't for the " pure profit" thing , he would stay and a few of our rubbish imports would be out the door. Anyway, are you working from the sofa again? 😂
July 24, 20241 yr Cant see what the big fuss is about. Its not as if he has just come through the academy and has the world at his feet. He is 25 and most probably peaked at his level. Players come and go. He might have played pretty well at the back end of last season but so did others. He was often slated on online forums such as this one previous to that.
July 24, 20241 yr Well, Trev moves on and Josh Acheampong [18] get his time and experience as a central defender, a full-back and at wing-back – OR he will most likely go on the loan The current CB situation is not great – there are still a lot of unknowns here with all these players. Young and inexperienced and possibly prone to injury. Levi Colwill CB Tosin Adarabioyo CB Disasi for £38.5 million Badiashile for £32.7 million Wes Fofana fee of £70 million, plus £5 million in add-ons I guess there is this idea where we can make Cucurella a CB and Renato Veiga as a CB or Reece James as a CB Aaron Anselmino fee in the region of £17million and we loan him back for 6 months OR maybe a year

Well, cos y'know we would not get much in the way of 'profit' and certainly not 25 million quid in profit. For me, Trev was a squad player and not a starter and moving him on is not the worst thing that has ever happened - BUT it is the 'way' that they have gone about it that is the most disturbing. He signed for Chelsea when he was 8 - he is now 25. Chelsea is literally his entire life.

I can't see any clubs paying over £30m for the pair, and that would just leave us breaking even. Chalobah would fetch £25-30m of profit and I'd imagine a lot of English clubs would be more interested in Chalobah than the Monaco pair. Homegrown factor.

I no way think this decision is on Maresca, he was told to leave him back as he's going on the market, as instructed by the board! The same way Poch was instructed who to play last season! This club is a circus act! As mentioned by @The Rising Sun Big Trev isn't seen as a decent player that came through our academy, he is just money bags to them!
July 24, 20241 yr Just wish he does really well for himself and the rest of his career when he does move. Will follow how he gets on away from us and give him a big cheer when he returns to Stamford Bridge. Really cant fault the guy. Top pro and were losing a player because the owners are asset stripping us. Not sure I can see this move through any other logic.

No one is claiming he's a world beater, look at the bigger picture of why its happening (again) and the money we waste.
July 24, 20241 yr This is all the consequence of the stupid PSR FFP bollocks. We are not the only team in this sh*t position. Why do you think we got Kellyman, Villa have the self same problems. Nobody is in a position to buy players at the inflated prices anymore. It has to be wheeleed and dealed, to financially fit PSR. The owners have tried various ways to get around it, as have other teams owners. as fast as a loophole is discovered, it's slammed shut with newer regulations. Until a major change is made in the stupid financial regulations, it's going to be a downward spiral for all clubs, with the inevitable weakening of the entire English game. We are not being asset stripped, the first 2 transfer windows under Clearlake were a disaster, partly ignorance, and partly blind panic.

I must say as a wrestling fan I do find this nickname you've given them to be extremely funny and actually fairly accurate. I do still have hopes for Badishille though.

Colwill is another asset option, maybe for next season to fill in the blanks again!
July 24, 20241 yr When he came in Badiashille looked pure class, unflappable, reading the game well, and potentially going to be a great. Since the injury, he's a shadow of what he was. It's as if his mind is 2 seconds behind where it was. If you're not totally on the ball, you're screwed in the prem, there's no time to catch up.
