Wouldn’t it be ironic if even one of the people booing him Sterling is directly helping via his salary assisting their son/daughter through university. I'd be very surprised if the children of any of the mouth breathers that booed Sterling get to decent universities. The kind of people who boo their own player after a poor performance don't tend to be the brightest bulbs in the box. Edited March 19, 20242 yr by Whats_The_Mata?

Poch doesn't know what he's doing Poch is also the manager so even though he as a more mature person with more experience from near decades of managerial experience after a playing career should handle it better than a player who, though one of the older ones, is still a pup compared to the manager, it still doesn't make it an enabling environment to thrive or achieve success easily does it?

I wish Stirling would just try a bit harder..
March 19, 20242 yr Rafa is but a footnote in our history, and you can argue if right or wrong after the comments he made but years later it's funny to see that the essence of his comments is manifesting and also possibly the best attacking triumvate we had in Mata, Oscar and Hazard who ran rings around opponents and looked genuinely exciting never really had the opportunity to build on that season in that system. Dare I say we played good football under him nevertheless the boos he got during games.

Anyway I find it great to hear the support he's getting from his teamates, because for the first time this season it's brought them all together. Hopefully it can act as a catalyst to make these players really fight for each other. Did anyone notice how they got around him on the pitch too? Mudryk consoling him for missing the 1v1, Cucurella sprinting across the pitch to give hug him after he set Palmer up. Sterling was awful. He doesn't need to be booed and I don't really agree with booing, but if this moment helps bind the team, then great.

Sure it is all correct, I'm not disputing that. It is what I'm thinking as well but in football how many times do we see a player struggling for goals and his team win a penalty and he is allowed to take the penalty to possibly help him get monkey off his back. I noted during the game that when Palmer scored, several of the players ran first to Sterling to congratulate and support him before Palmer joined them. Do we think the people he didn't square passes to weren't upset or the penalty taker wasn't upset that someone else took it and missed? They do but poor form and misses are part of the game. Probably not the best comparison as the fan and player interests and motivations align only to a degree but it's something I wish the fans would offer a player that is so obviously going through a horrible patch and not exacerbate the issue.
March 19, 20242 yr Booing is a natural element in sport. When standards aren't being met, the fans will let the players know. I for one will never agree to anyone who says we are quick to turn on our own cough Matt Law cough. This club went years supporting Torres, to the point where they groaned when Lampard scored off of a Torres shot that hit the post. We had patience for Werner missing sitter after sitter, and Havertz stinking up the pitch for 2 years.

Go buy a zoo for all i care if you're performing. We care about the outlay from the club and the return on the investment on the pitch.

You spend 90% of your time on this site trash talking the youngsters that have barely had time on the pitch. You're describing yourself here. Go to a game and you can call out the ones booing in person rather than hiding in your room and doing it behind a screen then jumping straight into the Broja or Madueke threads to do the same.
March 19, 20242 yr Players should thank their lucky stars they're playing this badly in this country, god forbid they went to a none-tourist league and played the way they do.

Didn't need to include a picture of yourself. I think our squad is full of overpriced sh*t, most people without extreme bias in the football world do. The results and performances speak for themselves and as supporters we have a right to be critical But unlike you I actually go to the odd game, I've been to the Bridge 7 times this season, very mixed bag of performances but not once have I ever considered booing or shouting negativity at a player because it just doesn't help anybody when you're at the game you're the 12th man your job is to support the team and create a good atmosphere for the players to perform in. "oooh good try sweet heart, maybe you'll get a goal on your 7th attempt". Pathetic. Save that sh*t for Sunday league football, if a grown can't handle criticism professional football at the highest level isn't for them. If i'm playing poorly at step 6 i'd fully expect my manager and anyone watching to let me know, its how standards are set in sport.

March 19, 20242 yr We have an ownership and manager that are slowly gaslighting our ambitions to match Tottenham, despite our success as a football club in the modern century. Of course the fans are going to boo. 😂

Ironic given how much encouragement our sh*t squad gets online, you mentioned a striker with 3 goals in his last 64 games and a winger without a single league assist since signing for last year. Presumably you think Broja and Madueke should be booed out of the bridge every game? Probably not. No player should be booed but strange the boos are only for Sterling.

BREAKING NEWS: Player with 13 years premier league experience, countless trophies and goals and signed as the leader of the team is held to a higher standard than a youngster with a years top flight experience. God you're dense.

And you talk about others accepting mediocrity? Hilarious. Edited March 19, 20242 yr by Whats_The_Mata?

Be it through his salary, his face being twisted a particular way, his commitment to the team, how he heaves his huge backside around, anything will be used to justify it. It doesn't matter what you say, it is to defend their action which I suspect deep down they know they're crossing a line that generally shouldn't be crossed. I do feel for him because he probably won't come out of it now, we might get moments of sparkle here and then but generally in life, not just football, when the people you expect the most to be your rock take away that support, it's very hard to come back from. Shame really. 😆

Player A earn lots of money to play to his previous level, plays bad many games for Chelsea and costs team, fans get annoyed 😡 Player B signed for future, play few minutes, still young and inexperienced, fans give leeway as expectations less and prime yet to come 🫡 Hope this helps, let me know if you need it breaking down further x

This isn't you. Your personal expectations of a player don't mean a thing. Booing a player because he doesn't meet your own personal expectation is the complete opposite of being a supporter. You've admittedly never been to Stamford Bridge and Our young players will be glad about that. Doesn't make it a nice place to play and i'm glad so many members of the squad have supported Sterling against the voices from some of the man children in our fanbase.
