It has been clear to any non English football fan on how limited Southgate is.. of England don’t act now he will waste the talent England have just like Martinez wasted the Belgian golden generation..

If your teams strength is attack why do you play 5 defenders and nullify your biggest threat!

he is so defensive it’s criminal.. in a team with Foden Kane sterling grealish mount sancho he instead wants to play maguire and their likes..

He is a political appointment ever so careful not ot say anything that might upset the FA.

I think he underestimated Hungary.

Stones had a nightmare could not win his defensive headers and as a CB that is a major concern.

Phillips was near to every goal they scored though reacted slowly and with one of the goals largely belonging to him with his mis-controlled chest down to one of their players in defensive midfield.

Southgate does not know his best team, too many changes meaning we lacked cohesion.

Its good in some ways though, saw a bit of Bowen and he does not look quick enough, he should have put Kane in just after they scored yet delayed far too long.

Werner scored for the Germans, hopefully this encourage a German club to enquire about him

Southgate adding his own voice to the "Southgate out" brigade by selecting Harry Maguire at centre back for tonight's game against Italy 🙂

McGuire and Dire. The worst centre back pairing in the history of the England national team. Not a brain cell between them.

Time for Mount and Trent imo. Get Kane and Walker off. James to take up Walker position, Foden as false 9 and Trent to offer something in attack. James can cover his clown defending.

I just want it to stop.

Oh Christ! They're coming out for the second half. Another 45 minutes like the first one and the Carabinieri should arrest both teams and the managers.

Yup, Southgate need to go. So much talent and we still play like San Marino.

Southgate won't be going anywhere until after we are eliminated from the World Cup. I reckon last 16 at best. We may even struggle to make it out the group.

Yet another shocking performance for Southgate.  They haven't scored from open play in these games.  Boring football from start to finish.  The only defence he has is that the season has just started and the players have not found their stride yet, but this was a negative awful performance.  A couple of months off but unless there is a complete turn around we are not getting out of the group.

God I thought you were going to say Chelsea then.

Assuming that Graham Potter is now off the table to replace Southgate before, or likely after, the world cup, and also assuming the need to stick with an English manager, then a good shout would be the current Canada manager John Herdman, who has done wonders with both the women's and now men's sides.

Normally you wouldn't mind, but it was against a rubbish Italian side who have failed to qualify for the World Cup. And on tonight's performance you can clearly see why. It was two mediocre teams, playing mediocre football, with mediocre managers. And yet Italy always looked like the side who would win it.

Just felt like watching Chelsea but in white!

Add to that we already have the poor mans Gareth Southgate!

Ouch you really love Potter don't you @Mod lol.

Cause Southgate is a poor man's Avram Grant imo....

This mean England chance of winning the WC is very high. We went to 2 cup final and should have been in cl semi last year

The difference is Jorginho.
