She wouldn’t get the respect from the mens team and couldn’t handle her getting the boot when she doesn’t. It was hard enough with Frank! I think we know who the next boss will be but I would’ve preferred Zidane by far! I think we are taking a big step back compared to any manager of recent years bar AVB and Avram. Why wouldn't she get the respect from the men's team Mod? Are you saying we have a dressing room full of Souness's and Linekers? It's a win , win. We openly embrace equality and diversity and in doing so immediately become the media darlings, (the BBC would never dare say a word against us ever again), all in one fell swoop.

Our resident scouser will know better, but in my sampling of living in Northern England for many years, a lot of Liverpool fans said Shankley was their greatest and set the stage for Bob to do the job.

And what happens when she's sacked? (when because i don't think we've ever had a manager resign or retire at Chelsea since the 90s at least, maybe Hiddink?) Edited September 11, 20223 yr by Guest

Has to be Clough Paisley inherited a great team and set up. I was at our game against Forest in 77 we both ended up getting promotion to think in the space of three years he'd taken journeymen and broke Liverpool's dominance and won two European cups is off the scale remarkable. He definitely stayed too long and should have retired about 5 years before he did. Interestingly he blamed the Scousers for Hillsborough and only apologised a good few years after he said it in print and on Clive Anderson's chatshow.

Forget the players, how many of us fans, hands on hearts, are ready to accept a woman as a manager of our men's first team? And what would be the reservations you have?

If the players can't handle an Alpha male shouting at them why not try a Woman, her voice will be softer, they will play like Brazilans if she gets the job, the only reason were in thei position is because Tuchel upset the players. e2a:
September 11, 20223 yr Emma Hayes has every qualification there is to be a manager. If she had the confidence and chance to do it why not be given the Chance. Don’t remember anyone moaning at Sian Massey ( asst ref) for her performances, the female referee who did the super cup and I believe a woman is now on the FIFA list. someone will be first eventually. You can’t keep recycling same old names out there that have been sacked time after time.

Probably at lower league level.
September 11, 20223 yr Sad thing is the poll at the top of the thread could be used now to see who will be manager after Graham Potter!

September 11, 20223 yr Think you are right Coco it will happen first at a lower level but at some point, as @Richard P says, it is bound to happen. Personally my own feeling are many of the players would not be accepting of it if it happened now at Chelsea. Hand on heart, I'm not sure I would be either TBH. If we think we have intense media scrutiny now, with a woman manager every decision, every comment, every formation would be analysed a million times closer. The pressure on the manager's shoulders would be impossible because it wouldn't just be about the football. Also it would be really interesting to see how the usual TV football pundits and rival fans would respond to it.

It will 100% happen soon, with 12 months i think, probably non league, if it's not happened already at that level, it must have somewhere surely, if not soon. But how successful will the early female managers be ? Will it be a master stroke ? Or will it end in tears (and i dont mean that to sound misogynist).

Yeah I didn't think it was a serious suggestion. I personally am very against appointing someone in the manager (or player or even tea lady) role based on gender, race, religion or anything other than ability + mindset (professionalism, dedication, etc) to do the job. If a female manager is genuinely the best candidate available, then absolutely go for it. But we just spent the most amount of money of any club in the world in the transfer window and do so regularly, that means we should be looking at only the best or best potential managers available (in the world).
