August 13, 20232 yr Quite nice of Boehly and co to wait till after the game to leak this out. Can't say I'd have been that gracious myself. I'd have leaked it 15 mins to kickoff.

August 13, 20232 yr As far as the structure of the deal itself, we got absolutely RINSED by Brighton and we have Liverpool to thank for that. But in the end, it won't matter if he reaches his potential.

August 13, 20232 yr Let's go and get Lavia now. I'm also a little nervous about Broja. So little news about him. I hope he is okay but I would probably take a more experienced striker alongside Jackson and loan Broja just because of the injury he's had.

August 13, 20232 yr I don't forsee any more HUGE transfer windows for us in the near future. Looks like we're mostly set, bar a few tweaks.

It would appear that way. Still think a GK and Attacking mid or striker will happen down the road. Jackson and Broja should get their chance, but there is something supplemental in that area.
August 13, 20232 yr Caicedoooooo Mental that a few days ago we were dead set on him joining Liverpool. Enzo and Caicedo. Wow.

Pretty much this clubs getting a squad that only needs a tweak here or there moving forward but all our players will be able to be here for 5 years minimum.
August 13, 20232 yr Essentially another loophole we seem to have exploited. So essentially, for UEFA, the armotisation starts next season, since we aren't in Europe this year. Which just gives us one extra year (23/24) to spread that payment without falling foul of UEFA's new rule. I have no idea if this played into their thought process but it gives us even more wriggle room payment wise. Brilliant.

Yep. We've needed a complete squad rebuild for a while now. We're back to that 2005-2010 period where we just made one or two signings here and there to complement the squad. Midfield rebuilt, attack rebuilt, defence rebuilt as well.

Pretty sure all focus as of now will be getting Lukaku, Ziyech, CHO and Sarr off the books. Add to that a few loans then maybe be can bring in the last 2 or so to finish the squad. It’s a good time to be a Chelsea fan for sure
August 13, 20232 yr Tip my hat to Boehly/Eghbali for pulling through on this. Shame we ended up paying 20 million more than we had to but we can only thank ourselves for that really. 9 year contract is insane, surprised Caicedo's agreed to that tbh. Whatever he's on now could be considered cheap for a player of his calibre in 3-4 years.

A genuinely pointless signing tbh. But we should be able to 70m from those 4 players. I actually hope we keep Gallagher. Consider how deep City's defense and midfield is. There's no reason we can't have similar depth. Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka is a genuinely potent midfield. Great to have for next season when we'll be in Europe too and the season after that when we'll be playing in the CWC (I'm allowed to dream).
