Can someone explain why he had to travel to his native country this international break?  he is BANNED from next game

I thought he was banned from only 1 game but can play the 2nd one.

Caicedo’s situation is a good indication that some of our under performing players shouldn’t be given up on yet.

I thought Caicedo started really week at Chelsea then looked very ordinary before coming good and showing his class.

Hopefully others can follow.

Worked really well today but generally speaking I don't want him away from our midfield at any point during games. He's too good for that and we did struggle at times in the first half when he was locked down as a rightback.

He was only a RB on paper recently he was always in midfield so I don’t think we missed his impact as much. But If we need someone to fill in we know he will do it without fuss.

Getting scary how good this bloke is. Almost more surprising than how he’s turned his form around, he’s got a bit of bite about him too.

Some sort of Kante and Essien hybrid that I’m not sure the league is ready for

You know he’s playing well when I haven’t seen a single mentioned about price for months.

He’s looking like the guy we saw under Di Zerbi

Elite player isn't he, always thought he just needed some time to get to grips with things, had some rough games last season but it's hard to think of a bad game he's had this season. This is just his standard atm.

Perhaps a controversial opinion but, imo, if he had never suffered his injuries, Essien would have been the best of class in midfield, Lampards goals of course being an exception but as an all around midfielder he would never have been surpassed.

Lampard was a great overall midfielder the f**k we downplaying him on just goals

Don’t think anyone’s suggesting Frank wasn’t great. Axman is suggesting Essien would have been best in class as a Midfielder all round and that the only area he would be clearly beaten is goals by Frank.

I still think Frank and others edged him in certain other areas but as a complete midfielder, not many in world football could come close to the Bison

Could not have explained my meaning or view any better than Niall did here Sconnie, was not downplaying Lamps in the slightest. I rate pre injury Essien that highly. Imo, the best all-round midfield I have seen at the Bridge.

@Liam called it the 'Death of Football' midfield. I still agree

I would normally say I respectfully disagree, however in this case I will just disagree with you.

Pre injury Essien was phenomenal.

It was Liam's idea, I was just a kid at the time
