But I thought Enzo was the problem and we are more balanced with Gallagher? That was good management from Poch's end. Realized the overloads in midfield was counterproductive and created more width from the full backs and wingers.
May 13, 20242 yr Probably the best passer of the ball we have in the squad and that’s including Enzo, weights his passes superbly. Can be quite rash and positionally poor at times but there’s a class player there.

Regardless of that it's evident that Caicedo had more noticable performances with Gallagher, he has been taking a bigger role and has influenced the team in a positive way. Now if it's because we played with Enzo being injured and changed the system when he isn't there that also makes a few factors to consider but Caicedo did in fact play better regardless of all the reasons behind it.

Again, not really. Contrary to popular belief, Caicedo has actually been putting in consistent performances since the start of the year. https://www.sofascore.com/player/moises-caicedo/987650

I don't go to sofascore but there is a reddit topic that shows that Caicedo had a better rating without Enzo: I don't take the ratings as the ultimate proof of anything but in the recent times Caicedo has been having a much more noticable role, at the start of the season he was less impactful and Poch had a talk with him.
May 15, 20242 yr Think personally it isn’t about if is he a better player with or without Enzo or is he better with Gallagher instead of Enzo. It’s more when all three are fit and played together is the problem. It reminds me of when we had a midfield 3 of Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic. Kept the ball nicely and were solid but getting it to the forward players wasn’t quick enough or incisive enough. I’ve thought this for a while and Enzo being injured has pushed Gallagher back and Palmer into the 10 role and 2 wingers so has looked a lot more balanced as a result. It also definitely hasn’t helped that Enzo has been playing within himself as a result of the injury for a long time. Next season if we keep Gallagher and Lavia remains fit then I think Lavia and Caicedo should be rotated and Enzo and Gallagher should be rotated. Then play Palmer, Madueke, Nkunku, Carney, Mudryk and Sterling behind the striker.

May 16, 20242 yr I've changed my opinion of him. Thought he was a complete dud but he's been fantastic recently. I can't say the same for Enzo. I still think we over paid for both but it is what it is.
May 16, 20242 yr Been our best player the last 4 or 5 weeks, absolutely outstanding. Just a shame it took this long for Poch to stumble on how best to use him.
May 17, 20242 yr A long way to go to justify the fee but he's been good/consistent this half of the season no doubt.

He doesn’t need to justify the fee he didn’t pay it or ask to be valued than high. The two 🤡s sporting directors are the ones who need to justify the price.
