Victor Osimhen

Unfortunate situation really, for him. Seemingly wants to stay in Europe but his most likely destination would be Turkey (if they can afford the £63m release clause), yet playing in their league.. he might as well be in Saudi, aside from the odd champions league game until they get knocked out.

Should have just stayed loyal to Napoli, could have been a champion, could have been playing in the champions league, could have been a real legend somewhere, now he’s just another drifter. At least they were smart to renew his contract, hopefully someone pays the release clause and Conte can re strengthen with the money.

You would think this situation would humble him a bit.

He scored Galata's second on the night against Juve, show me a striker on our books with his movement and touch he probably shouted megs putting it past the keeper.

Is delap/Guiu/ Pedro/ Jackson capable of drifting into space/across a back line like this? Space, touch, goal, textboook example of top striker when Juve had come back into the tie. He killed it. Strikers just need to score.

Perhaps my mind is fuzzy but who has scored a goal like this for us recently? Pedro possibly but he has to keep doing it, would put Osimhen into the side over what we currently have every single matchday.

My opinion changed on Osimhen last summer. Didn't want him at the start but that second half of the season where Jackson was stinking up the pitch and couldn't connect to anything, I was sitting there wondering what a natural fox in the box striker would've done.

I'm not too fussed about missing out on him as it was a genuine gamble considering what we all experienced with Lukaku.

1st signing of the summer for me.

He is a Chelsea striker in every sense of the term.

Leadership and responsiblity in attack, works his socks off, can give the best defenders a horrible time, aerial presense in both boxes, strong and awkward. Not absolutely prolific, but neither were Drogba and Costa.

Shouldve been here 2 years ago.

A Chelsea striker in the same vein as Torres / Jackson / Mutu.

They dropped the ball on this a while ago, I can’t see it happening again. I don’t think he will entertain our lot again. What would you do with Pedro if you signed him?

Pre-Shovel Mutu was quality. Less slander on the man’s name.

Same vein as Kezman / Jackson / Pato / Falcao is fairer.

Goal every other game for Pato. Better goal to game ratio than Drogba.

Lineup up has little or no pace. Might be unpopular here but Rosenior got the best out of Pedro. He stopped him from dropping deep into midfield, an habit he has picked back up now.

I don't think that's actually that controversial, especially in those first few games. It was night-and-day difference from Maresca's tactics, where Pedro was essentially doing dummy runs into central midfield and I suspect that was largely because Enzo Fernandez was the 'target man' in Maresca's mind. I couldn't remember the last time we played through balls for Pedro since Palmer's in the CWC Final.

Maybe a more unpopular opinion would staying a lineup with Victor Osihmen would lack pace!

Not Osihmen, it’s what is behind him. It’s only Quenda that offers explosive pace.

Caicedo is probably the fastest CM in the league. We just haven't seen it in 12 months thanks to Maresca's tactics. Interestingly, among the top clubs, only have a 'pacey' midfield when they field Wirtz/Szoboslai/MacAllister. Man City don't have anyone quick, Arsenal, Bayern, Barcelona and PSG all play with "slow" pivots.

I wouldn't confuse speed with quickness or mobility, where all those teams are instructed to play quicker and more intensely than Chelsea. That suggested midfield is still a damn sight more mobile than Lavia + Fernandez.

True quickness is how fast you process a situation and execute your next move under pressure. If your touch is elite, you can play at a high tempo regardless of how fast you run. It’s that ability to execute under pressure that makes players look faster than they actually are.

To cite a player who showcased that perfectly: Fabregas. By the time a more athletic midfielder closed him down, the ball was already moving elsewhere.

I think the front 3 are all decepively quick. Quenda is extremely quick.

Each to their own though i guess.
