After everyone that we signed, wasting money is a normal state of affairs, just one more 8 year contract and 100m singing and we can be sure that we're staying up.

Yeah because what we really need is another striker from the Serie A that's going to cost us over a 100 million pounds and definitely won't flop.

Yes, that awful striker Haaland from the German farmers league isn't doing too great is he.

Think we need to sort out our set up before we bring a striker like Osimhen in.

Definitely a next summer type of move.

Haaland was the best player in the league, a clear outlier. The Bundesliga has severely declined in quality since 2020, and we'd be hard-pressed to name 5 players signed from the Bundesliga in the last five years that have been unequivocal successes. 

And yet, it's still a better league that Serie A.

The same Haaland who was far younger and had a goal per game? Not even compareable. And I don't put the Serie A to the same standard if I'm being honest.

 

Ok so we should rule out signing strikers from Italy and Germany. I imagine France would be considered a farmers league so that's out too. So it's England or Spain unless we wanna branch out to Scandinavia or maybe the Japanese league?

I can't see us making an offer for him with the current model, and he has far better options out there.

Or we could just rule out paying a 100 million for strikers for having a good season in the Serie A. This guy has the balance of Tammy Abraham, can't see him being great in the Premier League or for us especially, has flop written all over it I can't believe people are even getting excited for this guy.

So if you had a choice of 3 strikers we could sign realistically, who would be your 3?

I don't know, I said this before we signed Jackson that when it comes to signing a striker we really need the board to pull something out of the bag, someone who looks like they can do the job in our current system, isn't overpriced, has potential, etc. I think Jackson fits the bill and I'm willing to give him more time.

If I had the choice to get a signing at the time, well Harry Kane it would've been for me but there was no chance we were getting Kane unless we were going to severely overpay for him which I'm glad we didn't do. 

We have Broja and Jackson, I think we should stick with them and let them develop instead of throwing more ridiculous money at the problem.

There you go, so why not just use what we currently have? Adding another striker with a huge price tag at that, we're practically binning at least one of those guys already. 

Much needs to be seen of Broja as well. 

Next striker, apologies for sounding ignorant, will prove difficult if they too are African. Imagine Jackson + Osimhen/Boniface both unavailable because of AFCON.

That guy is much better than Abraham, it's only a matter of time when he leaves Napoli.

I don't understand the undermining of Serie A and specially not in the light of who we have been signing, we gave the number 10 to a player that played in the Ukraine, we signed a player from Benfica for 100m.

Also Serie A had 2 teams in the CL semi-finals last year, we were garbage and even we knocked out BvB, take away Bayern and what exactly does Bundesliga have over Serie A or La Liga? Nothing.

Now, it's a totally different question if we need an extra striker or not. Right now it looks like we do need since Jackson is suspended and Broja came back from injury just recently. Otherwise you could argue that we don't need anyone else there, but Osimhen is going to a much bigger club soon enough.

He may end up a better player but where we are at now I’d much rather get a perm proven Toney who we know can get 15 odd goals a season in our league vs another risk/reward type deal

How does that counter anything I said? Pulisic scored in Bundesliga, PL and in the knockout stages of the CL as well. It is a surprise that he can score in Serie A? I don't think so, he had a lot of injury problems but in his first PL season he had 9 goals and 6 assists, as a 20-21 year old.

Rafael Leao. He's another one from Serie HA that we need to stay well away from.
