January 17, 20233 yr Defence worries me the most although scoring is also an issue also midfield can get overrun so fek it well probs hammer them

You cant blame that all on injuries. We will have to see if the new attacking players we bought are going to change things, otherwise we could really struggle to score. Potter had Brighton 16th last season for goals scored.
January 17, 20233 yr Is it actually possible for Mudryk to have his debut here? Imagine if he silences those fans and we win away, instant fan favorite...

Has Gallagher ever had a good game against a team other than Palace?
January 17, 20233 yr Kepa Chalobah Silva Badiashile Hall Jorginho Kovacic Ziyech Mount Mudryk Havertz think team largely picks itself these days with whos fit. Possible changes being A back 3 but i'd rather see us stick to the back 4. Cucu for Hall another option for experience but i'd like to see Hall gain some momentum. Mudryk v Trent should be the easiest debut he'll ever get. Edited January 17, 20233 yr by RIP Mourinho

After this game we have 2 weeks before the next match, so we might start seeing a player or 2 back from injury then. Despite their current poor form, Liverpool still have some dangerous players so this will be a tough game. But would be great to get a win up there and really push them into crisis mode.
January 17, 20233 yr Despite how poor Liverool was at times, playing against them at Anfield is a completely different perspective than Palace at home. The weakness in our defence and midfield will be perfect for their attack. The winless streak against top half team has to end one day, hopefully this game, but certainly not counting on it.
January 17, 20233 yr Given De Zerbi took over one of the lowest scoring teams in the league last season and his Brighton have put 3 past Liverpool both times they've played them I expect a similar quality of attacking performance from us. Yes it's Anfield but given how poor Liverpool are and VVD being injured there's no excuse for us not to see some kind of attacking performance. If we get another 0.1 Xg 1 shot Potter masterclass he should walk because this is a winnable game.

Couldn't make a pass forward to save his life. Like i said, i'm indifferent as we have a lot of players in the squad as fillers so one more doesn't make much difference. I simply think he has the most resale value and Hall is already younger/better and should naturally play in the middle.

I'm maybe guilty of giving academy players more leeway than others, but even so, what I would say in Conor's defence is that he's gone from playing in the same position every week alongside the same players (more or less), to being asked to play a whole host of positions alongside different players and under two different managers. He was good against Palace, not great, but good. He was playing about as close to his preferred position as he has at any point so far for Chelsea. It was a good performance to build upon, and I'm hoping that if he gets some good minutes under his belt over the remainder of the season he kicks on a bit and impresses.

It's easy to sell him to Palace, but what if City came in with a decent bid for Conor ? Or any other top 6 team ?

January 18, 20233 yr Will be an interesting match both teams have had problems this season though also think they will lift themselves for playing us. With having the new players gives us some advantage as they will not know their weaknesses that well. The Anfleld crowds'effect on the officials will be their 12th man too, hard one to call.

Hasn't managed to live up to Nunos win percentage there though. Not that you'd expect him to given Nuno at Wolves was a cut above Potter at Brighton and the step up is hard. If Potter starts showing something he'll have my support but I'm not going to blindly back the worst manager we've had in decades with the worst resume who then immediately sends us on our worst run since April 1996. He has everything to prove. A real question is what would it take for you to admit Potter isn't the right man given 2 wins in 11 games apparently isn't enough? Do we need to be relegated or would that be part of our long term project under Potter? Where's the line? Edited January 18, 20233 yr by TimesUpPotter

Give him the summer, let him spend 300m first, that way there will be no doubts about whether he's capable of making a top team or not.
