Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) Sat 21st Jan 2023 12:30 GMT

Featured Replies

Well I reckon Mudryk starts and takes Carneys spot. Hard predicting Potters team as normal but I will go with:

Kepa

Chalobah

Silva

Koulibaly

Cucurella

Jorginho

Zakaria (Gallagher of not fit)

Kovacic

Mount

Havert

Mudryk

Although I am sure they will rotate quite a bit, it helps that Liverpool have a not-needed cup replay in the week against Wolves with a growing injury list also. Not ideal for them, especially when they have a big game against us on Saturday lunchtime.

Shame Wolves did not beat them. Could have had our other game in hand on Wednesday against them and then played this game.

Two teams without a good form this season, this is our moment to take another victory.

Last game against Palace might give us some positivity in the dressing room, players delivere more passion and teamplay in the last game, all we need is this to be continued.

----------------- Kepa -----------------

Chalobah -- Thiago Silva -- Badiashile -- Cucurella

----------- Kovacic ----- Zakaria --------

Ziyech --------- Mount --------- Mudryk

------------- Havertz --------------

* If Zakaria is still no available, then I will go with Gallagher.

Never easy at Anfield.

big question is who the pivots are. Gallagher and Zakaria have the legs and kova and yes Jorginho the skills. But which combos work. Kova and Jorginho used to work well. Jorginho and Gallagher work. Zakaria and kova probably works but not kova and Gallagher in my opinion.

had Felix been available I guess mount would have been wide right

Chalobah and either Kova or Gallagher with Zakaria out imo.

Half way through the season and on 28 points, 10 off 4th, 5 off 5th. Liverpool in a similar situation. Pivotal game this one.

What does everyone reckon, can we make a challenge for 5th, or even top 4? I somehow hope we can get on a run, and have been waiting for something positive, last weekend was a glimmer of hope, but still not completely convincing. A solid win in this one might just be what we need to kick us on.

Whoever loses this will be in 'crisis', a draw probably the results both sides would take. Liverpool can't defend either these days, but Hall or Cucurella up against Salah will be pretty scary for us.

If Mount has a good game he is ok - but he only has 1 in 10 good games - Gallagher seems to make the ball move quicker.

No. Although snapping up 3 more quality players (2 CMs and a right back) may allow us to make it respectable.

I reckon everyone has underestimated the quality, organization, toughness and sheer desire of many of the teams and players in the EPL - it's all changed - the big 4 have gone and there are no easy matches. The players in the teams outside the old big 4 or 6 are playing harder because they want to move on and up.

If we win at Liverpool and get all our key players back and none of them get injured again and we put in 100% every game, we have enough quality to get into top 6 and push for top 4.

But tall order now - very poor a start.

Mount probably will be in the team but that’s a fair lineup. Mudryk might give TAA something to think about.

I'm pretty sure Zakaria's still injured isn't he?

I'm not going to pretend to have heard of Mudryk until quite recently, so I'll ask: Is he the type to muck in defensively? If not, then we'll need to allow for someone in midfield to help whoever starts LB from getting turned inside out by Salah.

Liverpool's midfield seem unable to press in the way you'd usually expect a Klopp side to, but they still try to do so, which has been their undoing several times this season.

I can't believe I'm saying this for the 2nd game in a row, but I'm pretty sure J5 starts again. He's undoubtedly more useful when he isn't pressed, and I think GP will want to start either his Captain or Vice, and Trev did enough against Palace to retain his spot over Azpi imo.

So for me, it's:

----------------- Kepa -----------------

Chalobah -- Silva -- Badiashile -- Hall

-------Gallagher---J5-----Mount--------

Ziyech --------------------------- Mudryk

-----------------Havertz --------------

Not necessarily what I want to see, but what I would guess we might see.

If we show same type of belief and will as against Palace the result for me is slightly irrelevant. Now don't get me wrong I don't want to sound like Arsenal 2015 fan here but we need to build on things more than care about 3 points. We will survive the league I am sure. Top 4 is a pipedream.

We need to add to the style and gel as a team. We have too little constants in our side.

Liverpool will be up for it. Home against Chelsea is one of the big games for them as it is for us.

There is no style right now. Compared to Conte or Mourinho. The team changes quite a lot every week. Looks like a preseason team really.

only kepa, havertz and Silva seemed to be nailed on, maybe mount b

I cannot be arsed! They should just have to sell it to one provider so us fans don’t have to pay out three times over just to watch the footy!
