Next striker not only needs to be one that fits with Pochettino's football, but if they have qualities that complement Nkunku, Mudryk, and Enzo.

This is where football is interesting and complicated. Let's say we can sign a Haaland type of player but let's say he doesn't fit with with murdyk or enzo. Do you sign Haaland or not?

Your turn !

My st touch the ball 7 times = the whole offense doesn't work.

The st is clearly useless. Goalscoring big 9 is dinosaur football. City n pool are dominating football with false 9 (Noone want to talk about mane/salah or city flooding the box)

=>

False 9, it is then. The offense is working but once your wb stop scoring worldie and the goals dries up. What is wrong with this false 9 stuff, why can't he score.

=>

Let's just sign a complete st. City offered 150m for Kane, Barca signed a 34 years old Lewandowski for 45m. Never a solution.

Let's sign wide player who can score then. Sterling is available (tap in merchant, flood the box)

=>

We are playing the same tippy tappy false 9 football as city but why sterling doesn’t score the same clip as for city? (flood the box, back post tap in)

=>

Damn, city is going to win Treble with Haaland barely involved in the game, clearly this st scoring goal thingy can works.

Or you stop signing players that fits into whoever has the very temporary job of being your manager, and instead sign players who fit whatever kind of football your club wants to play in the long term.

Tammy has outscored all our "strikers" since leaving the club. Cost less than what we paid for the generational talents.

In two years in Serie A, he's scored 26 goals. putting that into perspective, we've scored 30 this season in total. I think its silly to say he's not up to the job to be fair.

Top scorer last season in the league was Mason Mount, a midfielder with 11.

Tbh, I think we need to move Sterling on in the summer. Absolute failure from him this season. Head isn't in football anymore.

You need to watch more Serie A. Last season Roma's tactic was long ball over the top for Tammy to run onto. This season, with Dybala - a much more rounded talent than Tammy - on board, Tammy has been largely a bench player. Highly likely they will move him on. When sold to Roma, a buy-back clause of about 60m was included. He ain't worth nowhere near that.

Frank's former right-hand-man Jody Morris' first foray into management didn't last long. Sacked by Swindon Town after 18 games. Won 4 of the 18, they were 6th when he took over, now 10th. It's a dog-eat-dog world these days.

I would prefer Kane over Haaland if both were up for offer. Kane offers more than just simply goals. Given the two teams, i think Kane could have got similar numbers in that city team this season too. Haaland has a high ceiling though.

Think that is already where we are headed.

Until the next manager runs into trouble & fans start calling for the fullbacks to be played as wingbacks because it worked under Tuchel.

Chilwell is pretty poor in the first phase of the build up and James' doesn't have the durability to be running up and down the pitch.

Guess we will see. Reckon Cucurella and Gusto see a lot of game time.

I don't get the narrative that a 3 at the back is a default negative formation.

In that Autumn period James and Chilwell were coming into the centre which meant the outside CBs covered the wide areas a lot and at times Rudi was rampaging along like a fullback aswell as the front three buzzing all over the place.

It was catching teams flat footed almost as much as Conte's switch did in 2016, only unfortuently James/Chilwell injuries plus Lukaku's return put a stop to it.

On paper it was this

James—Azpi- Silva- Rudiger-Chilwell

———————Kante—Kova——————-

——————Mount—Havertz—————-

————————-Werner————————

But in reality it was something like this when we had possesion.

———Azpi————Silva—————————

——-Kante———-Kova—————— Rudiger

 ————James——————Chilwell—————

——————-Mount—————Werner—— ————————-Havertz

Edit:Havertz should be more middle but can't seem to move him.

Lamps does make a good point about structure and stability, and that he should of won at least 2-3 more league titles.

2008 had Mourinho stayed I'm fairly certain we would've won the league.

2009 we also would've challenged had Mourinho stayed.

I'm not sure if I'm honest. I mean at the time I assumed we would sort it out because he was Mourinho but we were pretty sh*t in attack at the end and his career since (when it's got to that point) doesn't look good afterwards.

I think looking back the best solution would have been Jose leaving after the cup win and Carlo coming in summer 2007.

On the ball I'd personally like to see James in a role similar to KDB.

Club was still winning though, and adding Anelka completely changed our dynamic up top. Team practically managed themselves that season and to take United to the last day of the season speaks volumes.

I think Ten Cate coming in is what 'fixed' the attack.

I remember thinking attack wise we were as good as we've been for around 18 months a few weeks after he arrived.

I agree that the big bustling CF is outdated, Liverpool, Citeh ( pre Halaand) and Arsenal score plenty without one. In fact loads doe.

I read a stat which I think was in Lamps first or second season that we were 16th in chances created  leading to goals but were 3rd behind L'pool and Citeh in the number of chances created.

Add that  to our woeful and freekick conversions . Watching Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth, Newcastle scoring tons without a million pass build up is frustrating. But our style is better, faster and more direct than previously, so let's just hope 👍👍

I might be wrong but I think James moved into that sort of position in the Everton home win just before lockdown .. maybe it was just into centre of defence , but I reckon you're right , he could do a job there

People were legitmately saying this in the Haaland thread back in 2021 😂

On Talk Sport they recalled  a fan complaining that although Halaand scored lots of goals he didn't have any " tricks"

I think the whole James + Chilwell dynamic that we saw under Tuchel has run its course. We will probably see it sparingly under Pochettino.

I've already countered your argument by the fact we've signed three "proven goalscorers" and got worse. The proof is in the pudding.

Looking at goals alone and not factoring in how they fit the system is the most laziest recruiting you could possibly do. The fact we've been burned doing that in the last two summers and people want us to actively make that mistake again (on a player who isn't even as proven a goalscorer as the previous two and has this season lost his place in his side) is mind-boggling.

Look at Liverpool circa 18-20 for example, do you honestly believe they'd have been as good if Lukaku or Abraham was up top instead of Firmino?

I'm not sure what " argument" of mine you are countering I've lost the plot  on this Frankie Lampard thread tbh

But to keep it going , my answer to your last question is " Yes, definitely"

Waiting for incoming missile 😁😁😁
