What hasn't helped him either is confusion over his role, as in his apparent job sharing with Fernandez. Get Fernandez out of the way and let Palmer roam.Palmer seems to have lost confidence in himself. He doesn't try any tricks, he doesn't play clever passes when they're on anymore, his shooting is horrible, and he holds onto the ball for far too long. I still don't know whether it's his injury or just a confidence issue, whatever it is though, we have suffered massively because of it this season.
April 17Apr 17 Wonder if BlueCo have made a new PowerPoint to get Caicedo to sign a new deal and Palmer to say he's not moving

Carbon copy of what these w**kers are feeding to the journalists. Hope Palmer is ready to play with Barco, Scott, and Emegha next season.

He needs new ideas and get fit, the sooner he gets surgery for the hernia/groin issue the better.
April 18Apr 18 Here's the full interview if anybody is interested. Let's not kid ourselves that Romano is a journalist:https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/apr/17/cole-palmer-chelsea-premier-league-transfer-speculation-england-world-cupGenerally positive, he claims he's over the groin injury that marred the first half of the season. Comes across in the way that his facial expression on the pitch suggests (dense to the point of accidental Zen). Had a chuckle at the repeated implication that he thinks a lot of his teammates are sh*t.

April 19Apr 19 Is he crap, now? Was he never really as good as we thought? I honestly think Maresca and Rosenior have ruined his form and confidence. Not sure we'll ever see the best of him at Chelsea, again. My god, do I hope I am wrong.
April 19Apr 19 It's weird as he started yesterday's game looking a lot brighter. But with Estevao going off early and then us going a goal down, he faded badly, when it's him you are looking at to take the game by the scruff of the neck and get us back in it.Worrying.
April 19Apr 19 I mean his awful form plus our terrible financial position may well allow him to go at a discounted price. Maybe a Mount level fee.Would still be a book profit for them.

With our sh*t strikers and wingers, his impact diminishes because his final passes don't get converted and he doesn't get the space he used to get either
April 19Apr 19 I think he needs a summer off football and some time to get his head back in the right place. Looks burnt out.
May 1May 1 Interesting reading, explains why Palmer has gone off the boil. Team was being set up around him and the next two managers couldnt allow that tactically. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-fc-transfers-pochettino-admission-b1280576.htmNext manager needs to play players to thier stregnths and best positions and we'll see a big difference.

Palmer's own faults, this season is especially, is down to his poor play. He holds on to the ball too long, he gives the ball away after failing to knock the ball past the players too often, his finishing has been awful and his passing has been off too. The likes of Maresca made him less effective, but he wasn't responsible for a lot of the issues Palmer is now struggling with.I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he was injured, but he is saying he is completely over the injury now, so there are no more excuses and we just have to call it like we see it, he's playing sh*t.
May 4May 4 Guy Poyet when asked about playing Enzo and Palmer together: 🗣️ "My biggest mistake in football as a coach was at Real Betis. I have very good individual players, and I tried to play them all together, and it didn't work, and then I got sacked. So I blame myself for not being able to leave one big name out and perform. After seeing Palmer last year, he was the most influential player in the Premier League, to have to play him on the right because you have two 100 million players in midfield is strange. I mean, you first accommodate your best player, and then you see which system you can play." Any quality manager coming in will ask the club to sanction the sale of Enzo to sort out the issue, or at the minimum tell him his role is to sit deep in midfield. Until that is done, I am afraid Palmer will keep playing on the periphery shafted on the RW.

Until that is done, I am afraid Palmer will keep playing on the periphery shafted on the RW.So when Palmer wasn't effective at CAM, people wanted him to play at RW. Now Palmer is at RW again and isn't effective, they want him back at CAM? We need to call a spade a spade. This isn't on Enzo. This isn't on CAM vs RW. This isn't on Maresca. This is on Palmer. He's been diabolical all year with only a handful of good performances this season, and they were all under Maresca. He can't even blame the groin injury anymore as he's said he's 100%. Enzo is a bozo but he only got in Palmer's way when Palmer was shifted to the left hand side so Enzo could crash on the right. That hasn't been the case all season.
May 4May 4 Everything about the way he plays these days is like he doesn't give a sh*t. That penalty was more proof of it.
