He’s had the creativity coached out of him. Looks an absolute shell of the player I had the audacity to call as exciting as Eden last season. I wouldn’t have any issue with him leaving if we stuck with Maresca for another season, footballers careers don’t last forever and to waste your talent under someone who doesn’t appreciate it seems such a shame.

I’m not even worried about Palmer, I just don’t see how he can be effective under Maresca.

Every time he picks up the ball there is like 10 players defending, compared to Poch last year where he had a lot more space to have fun.

Definitely need to sack Maresca if we want to see the best of Palmer again.

If we miss out on CL football we may be desperate to balance the books again, and probably won't demand such a high fee. If we also sense that he's going to keep struggling under Maresca, might be tempted to shift him now before people completely forget how good he was.

He remains one of our few sellable players that can command a decent fee.

He’s actually created more chances, especially compared to last season, but he’s converting less.

It’s a confidence issue as he’s never gone this long without scoring. Second guessing everything and plays it safe. Caught in his own head.

I think he’s forced in desperation to make something happen given everyone else is wasting chances. (Jackson + Noni are both in top 16 big chances missed).

The agents are sounding out potential moves given the last two seasons.. Can see it happening and him going back to city or Liverpool... another reality of hiring a second rate manager.

May well be clickbait, BUT Palmer may well want out (and who can blame him?), if we don't sign a proper striker NOT Delap, playing under a manager who is clueless and NOT having CL football all adds up to him going, and with these owners a bid of 100 million and he's gone

Seeing that we're on track to miss CL revenues yet again, we might be forced to sell for way less than 100 mil to balance the books. There's also no sign that our outrageous spending is stopping anytime soon, so we will just need to take whatever offer we can get.

That article made zero reference of Palmer leaving if we fail to qualify for CL.

Yeah, nobody drops off this badly unless something else is going on. I said the other day that I haven't seen a drop off this bad since Hazard in 2015/16. That happened because Mourinho was having a meltdown and Hazard kept playing with a hip injury. We only heard about this hip injury when Hiddink finally had enough and left Hazard out for a month to recover, and after that, he was back to his old self again.

We've heard a few bits here and there that Palmer is carrying an injury, and if he is, then we just stop playing him. Palmer doesn't dribble well, shoot well, pass well, control the ball well or even move well anymore, so there is clearly something wrong with him.

The problem now is that we can't just drop him. It's too late into the season. The time to leave him out for a bit was back in February or even March. What are we going to say to him, you're not playing in Conference League Semi Final, potentially the final and the Club World Cup? There is no way he accepts that.

I have another player in mind; Dele Alli. Scored 10 league goals and had 9 assists at 19yrs, followed it with 18 league goals and 7 assists in his second year. Made his England debut; was linked with Man Utd & Madrid, Spurs put an £100m fee on him, Ferguson urged Mourinho to sign him, and Zidane backed out of a deal. 36 months after his blistering debut it all went downhill at just age 21yrs. Never hit his previous heights again, just flashes here and there.

Not saying Cole is a Dele Alli, but it has happened before.

I never really thought Dele Alli was that. He had a knack for scoring goals, but he wasn't doing the things Palmer was doing. Palmer's touch play, his movement around a football pitch, passing, shooting, and just the way he carried himself was on a level Dele Alli never got close to.

Really poor performance again. I thought he was going to get back to his usual self and get back on the goals but he just looked laboured and lost. Reminds me of watching Space Jam and seeing Michael Jackson be cursed for a brief moment and he was just off his game. That is what Palmer reminds me of currently. Very bizarre. I don't buy he is burned out. He has been playing for most of this season, once a week. I know he has got a missus and I know when players get loved up, it can sometimes unconsciously take away their motivation. We will need him as we have harder games than Everton to come.

Palmer over these past few months has reached Nkunkus level.
