Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!

Featured Replies

I'm sure he's very happy with how things have gone since he signed for us, if not so happy with recent form.

He is far & away our best asset and with all top players, there is a risk of losing them if the club don't match the players ambitions. Think we will have him next season whether we make CL or not but after that, a club come in with a big transfer fee and we are still well off top 4, he wouldn't be blamed for jumping ship.

Was carrying the rest of the team on his back. Lately he has lightened that load - whether he’s been man marked out of games or Maresca doesn’t know how to profit from his talent. Either way no coincidence this losing and drawing streak coincides with his marked drop off in form. If I’m him I’m out of the club next season or the next at the latest if the conf league is lost and we finish in the bottom half and the owners insist on pursuing a failed and hopeless recruitment strategy next summer.

He escaped Pep's rigid formation football, enjoyed himself last season, and the start of this one, but finds himself back in that kind of systematic talent crusher.

Out of the frying pan into the fire.

No manager has got the best out of Palmer. Palmer has performed in spite of his managers here and he is largely the reason they have any record to speak of. Neither Poch nor Maresca developed a system that isn't totally reliant on him. You can sit three players on Cole Palmer for a match and our current team will barely create a chance, let alone score a goal.

Hazard was the jewel in the crown of Conte's Chelsea, not its focus. We need Maresca or someone else to give him a platform.

Conte's Chelsea had prime Kante and Costa in there, who else do we have to take any load off Palmer?

I'd argue Poch did get the best out of Palmer by making him the main man, there's no one else in this squad to ease the work load. Maresca has tried to make it more about the team than Palmer and that's screwed everything up.

SO ITS ALL COLES FAULT

All part of the PR initiative to persuade the fan base that they are happy with Palmer leaving when BlueCo decide to sell him for a big fee !

Kellyman and Estevao will be the replacements.

That's a really odd message to sent in public. Behind close doors, you could say whatever needs to be said, but said it our loud in public is just asking for troubles ( and different interpretations). Considering how poor the others are in front of goals, it's just unfair and unrealistic to think Palmer will get every one of his shots on target into the far corners? Even Ronaldo or Messi couldn't score from every shots.

Maresca might be the worst manager in history.

Agreed

I captained him over Salah thinking Southampton would be easy points 😂

Took him out 3 games ago and won’t be bringing him back in even if he scored a hat trick today. Needs a stretch of 2-3 brilliant games before he comes back in.

Woefully out of form at the moment. He has to shoulder some of the responsibility as his shooting just hasn't been good enough.

Having said that, i'm fed up of watching him stood next to Caicedo picking the ball up deep from the defense. This has to be a tactical instruction and its absolutely braindead. He is/was one of the most clinical players in the game, you get a player like that in and around the box. This central role is completely wasted on him.

He's not woefully out of form. His shooting has gone off the boil for whatever reason. His 3 or 4 shots last night were going in earlier in the season. Playing deeper is fair criticism, arguably a response to no other bastard seeming to want to get the pill forward. Defenders going sideways and backwards in lieu of a threaded pass forward.

I think that he's demeanour on the pitch shows that he's bored/annoyed with how we are playing lately and, thus he's missing things he wouldn't miss if he was 100% on it.

I agree, the only thing really out of form is his end product. He's still getting the most chances, he's still making good runs, taking up good positions, putting good crosses into the box, and he's still the player the opposition is fearing the most when he's on the ball. What Palmer is going through is normal and happens to all players. It's the other players we should be looking at, because Palmer is the only player in the entire squad that has had what I would call a really good run of form since joining the club. Caicedo is the only other one that comes close.

Couldn't hit a barn door, panics with his decision making and spends most of his time passing backwards. No goal in 7 and no assists in months.

For Palmer, he's woefully out of form.
