Erm, no. Not having only 2 attackers on the pitch.

At the most it should be the same tactics against Arsenal, but given Jackson's assumable lift in confidence I'd start him.

Think we have to sit deep. Crowd the midfield, have Palmer drop to the right and Jackson to the left of midfield when City have the ball, have Conor and Jackson break when we do get it to look for passes from Enzo and Palmer.

Crowd the defence, Crowd the midfield, Crowd the wide sides. We stay open City go through us like a knife through butter.

They also have an outstanding defence. Even if we play 4 attackers and drop Conor opening the up will be very difficult unless they get complacent after going far ahead like vs Bournemouth.

That is the same exact tactics we had under Tuchel at home against City 21/22 season and we couldn't even get out of our own half. It's cowardice on Conte's level.

Trying to be solid at the back and nick a goal on the counter or from a corner.

Yoy would prefer we go gun ho at them?

City are a great team but I think you're in danger of paying them too much respect Axman. They have already lost to Wolves and Arsenal this season and have no KDB and now John Stones is injured. We shouldn't fear them and I honestly think if we play like we did against Arsenal, we CAN get a result (but we mustn't start Disasi!)

That would be the sensible way to go, if you have more possession than City, likely you will get picked apart on the counter, which is a lot easier for them than breaking down comact defence. I recall Sarri and Lampard teams all got ripped apart for going toe to toe with them. Poch is a proven manager, and after 6 losses in a row, we could only get better.

Ah is Disasi your Jorgi as Jorgi was for Just Nibs?

Also worth remembering both Wolves and Arsenal beat City when Rodri was suspended. If Rodri was out, I would say we have a decent chance of getting a point, maybe even more. With Rodri, no chance, he is the best all around midfielder in the PL imo .

Not as bad as that, but he certainly doesn't fill me with confidence every time it takes him so long to get a ball under control!

I'd take that Conte 1-0 loss over the 6-0 pumping we endured under Sarri personally.

That's not to say I don't think we can win. But at a certain point you've got to consider the potential hit to morale and psyche it might be if we're over zealous and get torn apart.

A conservative strategy off the ball like that we employed against Brighton would be my preference:  Sit in a 442 when they have it with their defenders, dont press their CBs but make it difficult for them to progress the ball into the midfield.

Think the team picks itself based on availability and opposition with the same starting lineup fielded vs Spurs.  Be interesting to see what we do with the ball at the back as City will have a high press and know Sanchez is error prone when passing out.

Looking forward to this one. We’ve given Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs good games and have lower expectations vs City. See how far we continue to come!

Did you not read my post? If we want a cautious approach than at the very most it should be the same tactics implemented against Arsenal, which completely rattled them.

Not having this 5 at the back and only 1 attacker nonsense when all its done is provide frustration and a defeat.

That 6-0 was a joke. It is rare to see manager's tactic has such significant negative impact in a game but that was a complete disaster.

This is going to be a much harder challenge than spuds.

Unlike spuds, city's is actually a very defensive team. When spud has the ball, they want to open up and hurt you, city on the other hand is happy to play sterile football while keeping many player behind.

We will get very little chances. Can we be clinical when we get few chances on the break ? Hard to say yes after spuds game.

Can we presevere through long period of city domination? Maybe not.

But maybe this Sunday is our lucky day. 😬😬😬

In addition to losing the last 6 to them we have also not scored a single goal in any of those 6 losses while letting in 6.

I would be tempted to go to flat 5, not wingbacks, full backs.

Sanchez

James

Disasi

Silva

Colwill

Cucurella

Gallagher

Caicedo

Enzo

Palmer

Jackson

Also tempted to take out Levi for Badiashile, give us a bit more height.

Counter with Jackson and Gallagher. Enzo and Palmer have the quality to find them.

Actually 532 is an interesting formation vs city but since you want to play Palmer over Sterling, it negate the whole benefit.

Yes, even if we go down to 5. It's who we are, mate.

A quote from Fat Angela? Fair dinkum cobber!

Funny that Spurs lost again today, as did Newcastle. Not unsurprisingly lots of excuses being made by the clubs, the fans and the media about the amount of injuries and suspensions they have. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind. Coz we never have any injuries do we?

Well if Pep does do something mad, City are not at their best, make mistakes and we are flawless it is still a cold bucket of water knowing who the ref is and he will screw us over IF City are not at it.

Will Pep do something crazy tomorrow and give us a small chance or will he just unleash his remorseless machine to grind us in to the ground?

He only does it for the big knock out games, this is just a routine weekend for him, not saying we don't have a chance, but expect the standard City service.

Fair point. I expect City to do what they do most games, suffocate the life out of it.
