Manchester City vs Chelsea (FA Cup) Sat 20th April 2024 17:15 GMT

Featured Replies

5:15? I swear they just pick a set of numbers from a hat and go "here's ya kick off time".

Anyways Ederson, Ake, Diaz, KDB, Silva, Foden, Haaland et AL vs Cole Palmer.

Come on Cold!

A 1 win in 12 matches Everton is different than Man City in a cup semi-final. I would've started Chalobah but then I remember City are going to play 3-4 CBs with their injuries.

Petrovic

Gusto Disasi Silva Cucurella

Caicedo

Gallagher Enzo

Palmer              Mudryk

Jackson

Manchester City v Chelsea (5.15pm GMT)
Referee: Michael Oliver
Assistant referees: Stuart Burt and Dan Cook
Fourth Official: Darren England
VAR: David Coote
Support VAR: Stuart Attwell
Assistant VAR: Sian Massey-Ellis

Oh Coote is an awful VAR, the worst of the lot imo.

Don't think City will need him to be awful though. Mind you if he is awful in our favour we may have the same chance of getting to the final as Burnley do of staying up.

Let's all hope for a long, gruelling, but ultimately successful night tonight for Man City. A couple of key injuries and a win on penalties will do nicely. Keeps them having to manage the players' game time but tires the  out for us three days later.

At least they have a tough game tomorrow, and we will be resting ( or getting injured in training 🙃). If they beat Real, expect a bit of complacency to come in against us. If they get knocked out, expect a team come out all guns blazing ( at least that's what Pep will demand from them)

Maybe the other way round. They will be favourites against Real.
Anyhow we can be competitive. They will score two against us, but with luck we can also score two.
maybe same team except carney for Noni and Palmer wide.

I've got a feeling that we are beating them and going through to the final, just because I'm away on the weekend of the final and can't go and it would be just my luck.

Lol if that happens you know we are in for weeks a day weeks of "Mount and United after revenge".

Could we see the return of left wing Chilwell to try and help us defensively? Mudryk is not the best at helping out, often  switches off, Noni is better at his defensive duties.

Will Poch go:

Petrovic

Gusto

Disasi

Silva

Cucurella

Caicedo

Enzo

Madueke

Palmer

Chilwell

Jackson

You are assuming that ManU are going to beat Coventry and I am not so sure... It would be so typical of us to beat City and lose the final against Coventry

I totally get where you're coming from, but Chilwell didn't look great at left wing early in the season. I don't think Poch's experiments on playing players out of position have generally worked well at all. It might come back to bite me but I say stick with the side that thrashed Everton 6-0.

Interesting article from The Athletic describing how Madueke and Mudryk creating space for and opportunity for Palmer.

Question is do we go for the same against Man City?

There has to be someone harassing Rodri. 2 man midfield against City is suicide imo.

Yes you could well be right. I'm just thinking we've just won 6-0 though and should keep the same side, especially in attack. Poch was too cautious in our last big cup match - the final against Liverpool - and it didn't end well. Granted Man City are a different beast.

We are fresher so we should be taking the game to them. Carney, Sterling, Madueke all ready to come on when needed.

Agreed, being brave may be the best way to go about it. We managed 2 draws against them this season by being positive, no point changing that approach now. Haaland isn't in great form, so we may just get away with it playing open. Even Real was underdog against them, so no shame admitting they are better, but with a bit of luck and a positive game plan, we have a chance.

Pep said after their CL shoot out loss vs Real all 3 of Haaland, Akanjie and KDB asked to be subbed as they "could not continue"

See if thar means anything for their ability to play this game.
