I'm shocked nobody heard this after the double save by chilly...he said something like "first he risked his body for the first save then risked that perfect hair..." I couldn't stop laughing! Thank fk I wasn't in the pub. Lol

Does anyone know what the deal with chukwuemeka getting no game time was? Havent seen a mention anywhere and I watched the game without audio for large parts last night.

I think it was just numbers and places. Our squad on this trip is packed.

 

Biggest win of the night though is "hopefully" no injuries...hope gusto just had a cramp or something.

In the second half I was saying that's it...pls just walk about and dont care if we lose, the pitch was horrible. In several shots you can see the edges of the grass they just rolled down. There was even a square botch job by the dug out, as if it was hiding a man hole cover!

I don't understand why not TBH. We went through decades where clubs would scour the world for left-footed players on the LW, and now it seems every young player with a decent left foot is forced to be a RW.

Mourinho, Robben and Duff have a lot to answer for.

I asked the same question Niall and nobody seems to know the answer. Really hope he stays injury free and gets decent minutes this season. I love watching him play.

Perhaps with the 100 man squad that travelled it's about easing him back and giving others some playing time as well. Hopefully he can get back to his impressive start of last season, I really rated him.

Id imagine it is, he played an awful lot of the games already (think he even completed 90 in the first?) but 0 minutes seemed odd. Colwill had a knock and wasnt named, Carney was;

Never heard it before in a game mate. I've recently heard/seen ppl taking the piss and saying it when describing that footy is "adopting" American colloquialism, but never by commentators in a game.

School, football club, local Sunday league, etc, during my time it didn't exist, granted that was a long time ago. Lol

In my time it was "Kick the ball out of play" not "...out to touch".

I think it has been around for years but I know it as kicking the ball in to touch, because it's the area where you can touch the ball.

Touch is a rugby term. The sidelines are the touchlines. The ball touching - or over - the touchline is in touch meaning a throw in to restart play. Never heard it applied to football.

Yeah, when I googled it rugby came up.

Never been a rugby fan myself so never heard it before. I guess now it's in football too. Its been a while since I've paid attention to commentators tbh. Normally on mute or can't hear them over the noise.

But definitely not a term I grew up with in footy.

Not American in the slightest and not new either. The phrase has been in use since I was a boy and my granddaughter is 19 months old now. 🙂 Seems it must have gone out of fashion with younger people. That's the only explanation for it not being as common as it was.
