You realise football is a team sport? 11 people on the pitch. This may come as a surprise to you, but J.Pedro can't prevent us from conceding or make our midfielders be creative. He's there to score goals and link up play, which he's doing better than anyone we've had since Costa.

If Pedro is so good at linking up play, why are all the metrics - the stuff you use in your arguments - for our midfielders and wingers down. Is it perhaps because Pedro doesnt take up areas where others are brought into play? what is noticable, is that without the runs of Jackson, others dont do so well, which in football palance is called creating space. Pedro isnt going to stretch a line as he isnt a pacy striker or play off the shoulder. he doesnt put others into positions to score and this suggests his link up play isnt as good.

Basically, weve got two strikers who are not great at anything and his goals have literally only replaced Jackson's. Our team has gone down because Palmer has had a season to forget despite being our second top scorer.

Pedro might not be Drogba or Costa or whoever, but he has done more than okay, when the rest of the entire squad have been, on the whole, dog-sh*t.

Reminds me, I need to visit the Gusto thread and vent my frustration again. Now he DOES deserve criticism.................................

I fail to see any logic in what you are saying. the team is well below where we were 12 months ago, Pedro has simply replaced Jacksons goals and not bettered it by a long shot other than not looking brain dead on the ball... Hes done more than ok... No he's been as sh*t as the rest of the squad.

The fact that we are a lot worse than we were 12 months ago, has a whole lot to do with the SD's and the coaches and really poor signings like Garnacho, Delap & Gittens and Cole Palmers loss of form, than it does with Pedro.

I don't understand how a striker who's scored 20 goals so far this season, with 30 goal involvements, isn't good enough to lead our line, especially when we are a club in absolute turmoil and zero stability.

I stand by in saying that Pedro is arguably the most composed striker we've had since Anelka.

An overhead kick against a side that got spanked last night, good goal but we lost the game 3-1 and he was anonymous for most of the match - he's great against relegation fodder and we are at his level. Does he go on and become a top striker, IMO no. The league positioning tells its own story and the overall reduction in attackin players output is another, he isnt very good a linking up or bringing others into play, which is exactly the type of striker we need, Delap should have been but isnt. We are a mid table club, Pedro is a mid table striker.

We are lucky to have J Pedro, without his goal contributions we would have been in greater trouble this year. Hes a stylish player capable of taking and making chances. He is the least of our concerns just now. I wouldnt be surprised if he was a target for a few teams in the summer, both in the Premier league and Europe.

Shaun Wright Philips has advised Pedro to jump ship and join Barca.

Hopefully Barca have been listening to the views of @bluelightening and will now know he is nowhere near good enough!

I defended Jackson more than most on here but to compare him on a level JP is frankly ridiculous.

I believe JP is more than good enough to lead our line.

He has a much better than average football IQ whereas Jackson erm……. doesn’t.
