What about his decisions now? Signing with RB on a permanent fee and then forcing a move 6 months later because they missed out on CL. Stinks of signing him and him forcing a move in 2 years.

This isn’t what happened though. Leipzig never paid a club record fee with any intention of keeping, it was a short term profit play. The club always intended to sell him in the summer, a CL place had no bearing whatsoever.

Sorry, i didn't realise you were on RB's board. A short term profit play where they hold no leverage.

Leipzig originally loaned Xavi from PSG in 2023. That loan was extended ahead of the 2024/25 season and included an option to make the transfer permanent for an additional €50m. That option was triggered last January. As part of that deal, PSG will receive a percentage of any future transfer profit so i don't know how they saw this as only a quick profit flip for them. Initially, Leipzig triggered the option to buy for time to sign a new contract and protect the player’s value. But Leipzig missed out on European football, making an extension impossible.

These are all assumptions, what you're saying could be the case but I haven't seen evidence that he's 'forcing a move' rather than requesting to move to a bigger club. We also don't know what the agreement was when he joined, it felt like a strange move to go to Leipzig permanently given how sought after he has been for a while, it might have been a "if we don't make the CL you can go for x amount" type of move.

Reading the comments, there isn’t any real sense of excitement or feeling that he improves the team. Would agree this feels a lot like the next Felix or Nkunku, and would prefer we went for someone like Rogers. Beyond that, Paez and Quenda will be here soon enough.

Hopefully wrong on all the above if this moves ahead.

He very much is. He has started to reinvent himself, and while it is on him to stick to that trajectory, he is more like a Willian or Bernardo Silva than a pure attacker. He's much better defensively than Enzo Fernandez, for example.

If true, that would go some way to alaying my concerns

The move hasn't happened yet, until it's confirmed this is just another potential Robinho/Rafina situation

Seems to me the whole thing was planned way before it was known that RB wouldn’t qualify for the CL. No club would sign a player for a decent fee on anything other than a 5 year deal unless there were already plans in place.

Xavi Simons becomes RB Leipzig player on permanent transfer from PSG.

Understand contract to be valid until June 2027… Xavi will be one to watch already in the summer.

Xavi Simons plans for potential summer move as concrete possibility, as reported weeks ago.

Premier League clubs are informed as it’s the most likely destination.

Xavi Simons’ decision has been made: he’s ready to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

Plan confirmed as reported in the recent months, he’s ready for new chapter with top Premier League clubs and Bayern all attentive to his situation.

RB Leipzig, aware of the player’s plan.

Lol.. why did they give him a 2yr contract then, it’s unheard of. And if Xavi Simons requested a 2yr contract, Leipzig could have walked away.

Thank you! Both parties were aware he was leaving in the summer when they signed him.

Personally am a big fan of him. He’s got elite ball striking from outside the 18yard box which we have been missing for years, brilliant ball striking, and good footwork.

Rogers is going for £80m-£100m. Simons is available for around £65m. We are here debating Simons football journey, but Rogers only has one season of top flight football.

UEFA has also warned us against doing any dodgy swaps with Villa, while Leipzig are interested in signing Chukwuemeka on a permanent deal.

The Carney Conundrum rolls on. I’ve been nothing but impressed by him everytime he’s played for us yet the board seem hell bent on offloading him?

Now being used in a makeweight for this deal by all accounts. I just don’t get it. Proven PL quality against someone whose main exploits have come in the Bundesliga & Eredivisie. All very bizarre, does seem to be another agent backhand favour going on.

Every comment on every single rumour section are assumptions. What you just typed is as much of an assumption as what i typed. Every source says 'Xavi has opened the door' 'Xavi has told RB'. Not as per an agreement, its him telling them. The fact he's also employed a new super agent too.

Did you not read my previous post?

He's a pretty good player in fairness, lacking in physicality so might struggle at the start but doesn't really have any other weakness I've seen.

It's just I can't with anymore Bundesliga signings. Even worse is it's the same club as Werner and Nukuku.

I like Carney. But he has shown less than Simons in his career.

And how many times was that exactly? Bloke is literally made of glass. Did he even play that often at Dortmund?

Talented player but not someone we should keeping around at this rate.

Simons would be great. I don't think we NEED to sign anymore players, BUT if we sign Simons then we will surely NOT be signing that bloke from United.

If we can get him on a stupidly cheap deal or a loan with obligation to buy, for like 15m or 20m, it’s worth the gamble.

It’s clear he has a lot of potential and could explode at the right club. Look how much better players look as soon as they leave Man Utd. It’s just his attitude that worries me the most.

Can't dribble, can't cross, only good for long-range pot shots. Sheffield Wednesday strikes me as the right club.
