I can imagine Nkunku seeing that as a backwards step. Can’t see him going back especially with them missing out on CL football.

I think he's going to have a rude awakening if he thinks he's going to be able to attract a CL club following the last couple of years

Possibly but if we could dictate where players go then Sterling would have gone a year ago. He’s on the good wages too.

Feels like we should at least be exploring Nkunku going the other way in this deal as something that would benefit all parties?

How does all this psr nonsense work with swaps or part swaps etc? I think in the past clubs haven't done thus, preferring to just sell directly.

They asked, if we offered a home grown for PSR! Would be a good move for George - he is behind all the others at this time (not that he surpass them). No matter what he does in the future, that goal vs Fulham will forever come to mind.

I’d have absolutely no qualms George leaving, so far of all the Cobham boys throughout the years we’ve overrated (starting with Franco Di Santo through to Ian Maatsen and with all the Josh McEachran’s in between) he seems the most overhyped.

Nice lad, bright talent, but shown nothing in senior football that he’s some generational whiz kid worthy of a spot in our attacking line up.

Won more silverware than any of the signings coming to the club though... Two trophies last season, was pretty useful in our Euro cup run. Started making inroads to the team.

He's only considered for transfer as its pure profit. No different to Gallagher last season, and we no longer have Felix on our books.

So what about Aina, Lampety, James, Mount, Hall, Gallagher, Liveramento, Solanke? All Cobham Grads playing in the premier League? Overrated too?

(Edit, forgot RLC, Timori both in Italy doing well)

You can trust the directors with the money, but theyve got a proven catalouge of expensive flops, some of which we cant seem to get rid of.

imagine, we sign Simons, not exactly set the world on fire in the dutch or Germany leagues.

We've also just signed another left back and cant get rid of Chilwell.

Oh by no means was I having a pop at Cobham we’ve produced some excellent players, but we also have a tendency to exaggerate the abilities of those players as well.

RLC was unplayable til the injury, that ‘friendly’ in the US has led to one of the biggest what ifs in recent football memory.

Mase had a few Top Top seasons, once again injuries have derailed his career.

Reece James is World Class, fitness depending.

Tino Livramento, I believe will be a Top 3 fullback in the Prem over the next 2-3 seasons and is some of the worst business we’ve done as a club allowing him to leave.

Aina, Lamptey, Solanke are acceptable lower level Prem players.

But then there are the Tino Anjorims, Lewis Bates & Izzy Browns of the world that we convince ourselves are the next big thing, for me George falls into that category.

Think you do Aina a diservice, had a few cracking seasons in Seria A. did what a lot do and move away and returned to be a very capable full back in the league.

Hall is a big loss, given who we've signed to replace Chilwell.

TBF, the ones I have mentioned have all made a fair few million in Transfer fees.

RLC was cut differently, till as you say he got done... American pitchs... grrrr...

That's not to say the lesser names dont go on and have careers at lower levels. (Mcrechran had a few very good seasons in the lower leages etc) Cobham has been one of the best academies in world football for a while and its helped bankroll reckless spending by the club. without Cobham, doubt wed still be in the mix for players to buy.

Im really torn on George, I like his demeanour and attitude, I think he has bags and bags of ability. Very rough cut currently, but he stepped up, it didnt look too much of a problem and just think rather than signing players over him, try him. keep him about the squad, look for a six month loan if not getting game time. Selling him now is shooting ourselves in the foot because a decent season with us will add 15/20 million on his price and we'll all be better in knowing if he can make the grade or not. (but this is a tale as long as Chelsea)

And my biggest grudge if we move him on is the fact that many we've signed havent been better than the local lads coming through. I look at Simons and just think for a couple years more development, he's not really pulled up many trees and isnt much better than George who looked like he was a duck taking to water in the bits i saw of him.

Sorry - probably wrong thread, but Wanted to find out how much weve made on that lot... Totally forgot about Abraham and Guehi. saw this thread.

With Gusto nd Badiashile staying, and Hato signing, it could be a good loan for josh as well.

I think if we let them have Badiashille on loan, with obligation to buy for 5m, it would be a good deal. The conditions are they have to finish top 20 and score 3 goals.

I saw this Adam Clery video last night and thought "ah, it must have been done", but apparently not quite. It's stlll a good watch though.

Great video. Seems to know what to do when given space.

Re Cobham boys..I think we need to take into account of our own boys and whether they improve the squad be it depth or starter. Not that many of them have been the absolute top talents throughout their youth careers. Palmer and Madueke for example were England's backbone in the youth setups. Estevao is a gem and recognized all over the world to be one of the best youth players out there. Same goes to Andrey Santos and Casadei. If we strive to be the best we need the best talent.

Chalobah is a great depth player for us. James is really a super talent. One of the all time Cobham boys.

We've also let go guys like Rice and Musiala.

RLC, Tomori and Abraham have done well in Italy but they are not part of the England setup nor do they lift the trophies in Italy either in consistent fashion.

Guehi to me is one player that would make us a better player if he came.

Every top club will sell their own youth if they are not making the squad better.

He seems to have done his bit including removing RB Leipzig from his IG profile and saying he wants to join Chelsea.

It’s time to do our bit and make a bid and get this done otherwise there will be a point where he’ll feel we’ve hung him out to dry without even making an official bid.

We did the exact same with Kounde then when Barcelona stepped in he accepted - there’s only so long players will hang around for a club.

I say wrap this deal up this week then concentrate on more outgoings and Garnacho, doing it the other way round is risky with Arsenal and Bayern waiting in the wings.

If any of those clubs bid close to £60m then RB Leipzig will accept and everything could change in Simmons head.

Also if Man Utd or Newcastle buy Sesko then they are definitely digging thier heels in and not dropping the asking price.

I wish we’d stop messing around and get this done.

We shouldn't overpay.
