Rumours that Alonso is stalling and waiting to see if Slot gets the sack at the end of the season, i think Glasner will go to United and Iraola will go to Palace

we will end up with Silva

Silva could well end up at Benfica.

I reckon it will be one of Felipe Luis or Kieran McKenna

Appreciate a job is a job, but Alonso reeks of Liverpool, and any idea or notion he’s waiting on them is off putting. Not to mention the idea he would even potentially jump ship at some point. We’re Chelsea ffs, and there’s a few chels-related options available, like Fabregas, not to mention just ‘neutral’ figures without that smell on them.

It just kills the enthusiasm around this.

interesting question about Roman. I believe Romans model got found out towards the end and he wasn’t hiring or buying elite players. He had dropped from title challengers to top 4 challengers.

Granted, there was ALOT to political issues going on and he clearly had to step back a little and couldn’t enter the UK so will cut him some slack.

Last year of Roman.

No Lukaku interview, no Chilwell and James injury, we would have won pl or even cl

Honestly we don't need manager having control of transfer. Manager is awful at recruitment.

What we need is just shift in transfer strategy and this is far harder because of 🤑🤑🤑

Sign fewer player, sign more player who is ready to help us now.

I’ll never understand the Vinicius hype. Modern day Aaron Lennon.

A moments player. He has the odd bit of brilliance in him, but over 90 minutes, he's more of a miss than a hit.

Iraola going to Palace would be so weird. Bournemouth have a real chance of getting Champions League football next season, why would you give that up for Palace? No disrespect to them or anything, they have been a stable Premier League side for the most part, but they haven't finished higher than 10th in the league since they got promoted in 2013. I could see them doing a Wolves any season now too. They can't keep selling all of their best players without suffering on the pitch.

They literally have to just stick it out and keep us as a PL team to see a return on their money. That is all.

Trophies do not matter. At the end of the 10 years ‘turning a profit on the asset (CFC LDN)’ is all that matters to them. With TV rights going the way they are, that’s all their projections are.

You are right but unfortunately BlueCo are not. TV deal has stalled (actually decreased in real terms factoring inflation and the amount of work/engagements clubs have to do for the same money) and the next one may never hit the same heights due to Saudi pulling out investments all over the place. Advertising revenues are also down globally so less incentive for broadcasters to pay big. UEFA's adoption of the Diarra decision means the player trading market/selling club model is functionally dead.

There's a real chance that our lot have bought at the height of the boom, not the bottom. IMO the only way they profit is to get two more favourable owners who will 'Americanize' the PL, and to form a private-equity backed Super League that replaces the CL.

Is there still a Wimpy Bar in South Norwood SE25? Used to go there a lot in the '80's - that would certainly swing it for me.

I feel I might be very lonely in this but I just dont want Alonso because of the inevitable bullsh*t around him and us if Liverpool need a new manager some time next season. The media will be all over it, how he wants to leave and go to where he belongs etc.

I’d agree with you if it was Gerrard. Alonso is just as much Bayern and Real as he is Liverpool so I dont really think its that much of an issue

I just think because they have lusted after Alonso since it was known Klopp was leaving its inevitable at some stage it would all be bullsh*t, and what we dont need in the next coach is bullsh*t. We need a settled management team that is given time to build their own squad without all the nonsense.,

Sure, I just dont think its a problem for us at this stage. Either Liverpool sacks Slot now and goes for Alonso, in which case he doesn't come to us in the first place. Or, they back Slot, we get Alonso and he either walks away after a while as they all seem to do - or it goes well, in which case I'd think he'd like to stay and build on that

Suspect they'll stick with Slot.

Imo if what you say happen, we have far bigger problem than Alonso. It mean that media or even Alonso think that Liverpool is a step up compare to us.

I think if Alonso came here the scousers would Judas him off and would make it difficult for him to go there after.

I’m not convinced Alonso is the man personally so far he’s had 1 exceptional season in management not vast experience.

However he is considered one of the brightest young managers about and looking at the other names on the list of Silva,Ariola,Glasner. I’d rather piss off the scousers and get Alonso before they do.

I just can’t help thinking it winds up one of the 3 above.

Having seen the list of Alonso Iraola Fabregas Luis Silva Glasner im optimistic that we might get a coach who does indeed have more input into team affairs. They all seem that type considering their experience and perhaps style. Eghbali has called for self reflection - im assuming that was an instruction rather than a request.

Ok i'll go back to my cornflakes..

If Alonso is genuinely interested I think it would be a gargantuan risk to just 'wait until after the world cup' for other managers where nothing is guaranteed. More than likely will start the season with just our dicks in our hand.

That would be the most interesting time of our lives @CaitlinCFC and I ever had. Can't wait!

I wanted Simeone, I wanted us to go back to being proper horrible c**ts like we were under Jose & Conte not just some petulant fairies like we are now.

That’s out the window.

If it is Alonso, and they do allow him to sculpt the squad, we’d need a new GK, CB, LWB & likely a back up ST/LW.

A opening day line up of something like

Penders (Experienced GK signed to ‘challenge’ him)

Senesi, Colwill, Hato

James, Quenda

Caicedo, Santos

Palmer, JP, Estevao

The success of next season - Top 5 & a domestic trophy likely rests entirely on avoiding Europe at all costs.

Penders is an entirely unknown quantity. From what I've seen O'Neil has had him playing more traditionally, none of the extra roving defender stuff. Not sure I'd fancy him first choice from the off.

The only alternative I can see that’s available realistically is Maignan, and everytime I’ve watched him he looks like 2nd season Mendy.

We f**ked up beyond belief going for Jorgensen over Mamardashville the other summer.

I’d, personally, be happy to keep Sanchez around as he’s a perfectly capable Goalkeeper, he’s just a proper sh*t footballer. To mentor/challenge Penders.
