Sorry to quote myself, but if it is the case the ref was surprised, I have to wonder why she didn’t just award a free kick immediately. It was a high kick that Bruce Lee would have been proud of.

The ref wasn’t surprised. That’s invention. She shook her head at the time of the incident. She got it wrong as did VAR.

From a very selfish point of view, I really did not want Ecuador to win that match. Caicedo desperately needs a break from football. I feel like he is going to be completely burnt out by the time the new season starts.

Midtown New York was full of Ecuadorians today. They are quite loud and They are not spooked easily.

Why do the refs go mental when the players go for a drink after a player goes down injured? Is it because it shows how ridiculous the whole hydration break is?
