A big signing, Villa are a big club that qualified for CL and won a trophy. He was courted by the Champions and chose us.

If you remember when PSG came sniffing around Neymar Barcelona put some random arbitrary figure of £200m believing no team would ever pay that.

Then when PSG said 'Ok, £200m, we'll pay that' then Barcelona tried to go to court to get the transfer cancelled.

If Barcelona had said 'He's not for sale for any price' then it mighted of slowed down the transfer market price hikes.

Anyway, it is what it is, so any fan waiting for transfer prices to go 'back to normal' is in for a very long frustrating wait.

We could go on and on about every single transfer and argue if a club has overpaid, the bottom line is transfer fees get mentioned less the better the player performs at thier new club.

I'm prepared to see how he performs before making any judgement that we have been robbed by Villa.

Ive said I was prepared to give Delap more time and that he is a different type of striker that sides need. Ive said he will go on and have a decent premiership career at Chelsea or somewhere else.

As for the World Cup, I dont think youve watched it because some of the decisions that have gone against teams playing Argentina are outrageous. they have been protected and Players who should have had suspensions rescinded upon trumps intervention. Have you followed much international football at all, Sepp Blatter before him.

The money doesn't really concern me. Over priced PL premium for sure. Can't comment on the cash washing as Villa haven't signed anyone from us yet - be interesting if that happens.

The main comparison is someone like Semenyo who went for £64M. Am sure wages play a role in this also, bit like Guehi.

Happy with this. Two footed, physical, technical, determined. No idea what formation we'll be playing, but quality options with J Pedro, Palmer, Estevao and Rogers. Excited for Quenda, Satpaev (in time). Could see us keeping Gittens around. Unsure about the rest - think they all have a price here.

B. Rogers immediately improves/balances the XI and removes Enzo, Garnacho and/or Neto out of the team.

Its funny, I equate 120 million to being a Bale/ Ronaldo messi/ Neymar/ Mbappe type player. 120 million should by you elite, fully fledged player, not someone who two and half seasons ago was plying his trade in the championship.

We could finish mid table every year just promoting from our academy... yet we have just dropped an small islands worth of GDP on a Rogers. It sits really badly with me considering other clubs go out, recruit at much better prices than us and do so much better in the transfer window. We get our pants pulled down on every single player.

Rogers is no exception to the rule, we signed another dog sh*t player in Enzo who has underperformed his entire chelsea career. Honestly, I hope rogers becoms our new Lampard, but I just dont see it. Fingers crossed for him though... Welcometo the batsh*t crazy madhouse that is Chelsea.

It did buy you elite when those players moved. Anderson moved form Newcastle to Nottingham Forest for £35m two years ago. Having been part of the team that just staved off relegation last season he has now moved to Man City for £116m. Its a market economy, that's what happens.

In order for us to fund this purchase it means that a number of players have to be about to go out to balance the books unless this lot fck that up as well. It is worth laying out £117m if it means we see the back of Gusto, Badiashile, Disasi and hopefully Garnacho

Bouaddi and Diomande were quoted over £100m. Liverpool had their bid even rejected.

Yet we are getting a PL proven young player that immediately improves the team for a similar amount.

Thats the market.

Academys, scouting and understanding of the game and what makes a top footballer. We've spunked 1.5 billion working this out and have a squad of unsellable players.

But we said then when they went balls deep over Fernandez. We have then had a pretty uninspiring time of it as a club throughout his tie with us, with a couple of high-ish points, and although it might not happen there is a still a fair chances that they will sell him and get their money back.

This isn't teh issue becuase as @dkw says it just moving inconceivable numbers around the same group of owners and investors. The issue is that whilst it benefits those lower teams because it raises the floor as well as the ceiling, it still doesn't go down far enough, so there is still starvation of funds in the lower divisions.

This market and this game died the moment it allowed non sporting owners and speculators, like the frauds that we have

Imagine, Crystal Palace go and sign Lecroix or whatever teh guys name is, they get him at a reasonable price, imagine if we had been in for him when palace signed him... we would be paying nearly twice the price. the stupid transfers simply exist because there are stupid owners willing to pay them. Our transfers have maxed out the credit card and the ability to purchase players before they show potential...

We sell our players with potential and replace them with more expensive players showing potential. The club is well and truly f**ked if Alonso cant get thie sqaud going.

Famous last words from me but I don’t rate this signing. Very happy to prove me wrong but we have had our pants pulled down well and truly, good player but not particularly exceptional at anything. He wouldnt start for me if we played with 2 number 10s.

Have always been able to count on Arsenal to reimburse our coffers a little over the past seasons (Havertz Madueke) so who knows, with cash to burn from the Rogers No Go, maybe Arteta is currently sat going through his collection of Pedro Neto Videos lol
