At Bolton he seemed to flourish with 3 up top, but all 3 as strikers, rotating positions, never a winger. That could be good for us, if we sign a Neymar or an Aguero, then a front 3 of Neymar or Aguero/Torres/Sturridge could be lethal.

I'd agree that Dzeko has been a flop thus far, but you can't say that David Silva hasn't been a success for them this year. He's been exceptional. Balotelli, though he is a complete tool, is also a good player when he's happy and showed that this season. Johnson was out injured for much of this season, he's a superb talent aswell. I'm not defending City, and they do need to work on team unity to gel better, but they are going to be a force next season, if they get their act together.

I'll always want Aguero at Chelsea. He's been my favourite player outside Chelsea for YEARS. Where he'll fit into the side is another question with Torres and Sturridge here, but he's a fantastic player who would be very welcome on the back of my next Chelsea shirt!!

I watched Black Swan again last night with my flatmates, it's still absolutely incredible. Definitely in my Top 5 of all time. After that we watched Apollo 13 because we had either never seen it, or in my case not seen it in yonks. Thoroughly enjoyed that too!

That should be the maximum requirement for whoever comes in next year. None of this "you must win trophies" malarky, aim for Top 4 and focus on the CL. Anything more would be a bonus.

Not necessarily, he could only come here in November if Turkey win their crucial qualifying match in a couple of weeks, beginning of June, roughly. So, if they lose that, we could have him all summer to work on the squad, signing new players - more time than he had in February of 09.

Admittedly I know next to nothing about Van Basten's managerial prowess, and the words of quite a few on here have led me to get a bit worried. But after reading that article, he does seem ideal for our situation. Lots of old who are effectively guaranteed a start, a few young who are looking to break into the squad, with no joy. And arguably better players (Zhirkov as a better left winger than Malouda for example) not being able to play because their competition waltzes into the line up every week. Though that is one article, I like the sound of someone who isn't afraid to take chances on youngsters. He could help Josh flourish and become the complete midfielder we know he can be. Like you said, under Hiddink's guidance for a while, he could be ideal.

Agreed, JT is Mr. Chelsea (for me, those of you who witnessed Chopper would say otherwise, obviously), and to call him anything other than a die hard is insane. You're right about Frank, he's probably passed it now, but every game he gives his all, no matter what. What should happen is we get a new manager ASAP, and let him judge the best side through his own eyes through training and pre-season. No bias because of their history with Chelsea, the best players get picked, it's as simple as that, no matter their stature.

Exactly! I liked Carlo, but I didn't think he was the man who could take us through 10 years under him. This post is exactly why, and I think his sacking today, though harsh the way it was done, was the right decision in my book.

Sums it up. I've wanted to keep Carlo, but I really can't see any reason we should now. The last 3 games have been woeful. The Man U loss confirmed it in my head, we had the chance to go top that day, and we performed shockingly poor. Sorry Carlo, you've run your course I think. Thanks for the Double last season, and all the best. Get some fresh legs, a winger, a creative midfielder, get rid of the dead wood and start again. Preferably with Sturridge and Torres firing on all cylinders next season.
