Posted May 18, 201113 yr So the last game of the season, 3 pts would be nice but it wouldnt be a disaster if we didnt manage to grab all the points and therefor I'd like to see some youngsters get a chance along with Ferreira as I believe its his last game with us. -----------------------Cech ----------Paulo--Luiz-----Ivan--Bertrandt -----------------------Mikel -----------Ramires----------Josh Kalou----------------------------------Zhirkov ---------------------Torres Something like this perhaps? May 18, 201113 yr Looks fine to me, but I would also put in Turnbull instead of Cech, who really needs a rest.

May 18, 201113 yr If that's the lineup, give Paulo the armband? Ivan? He seems ideal captain material if you ask me!
May 18, 201113 yr How did Josh fare in the Newcastle game? Unfortunately I can't locate info in that thread...
May 18, 201113 yr Ivan? He seems ideal captain material if you ask me! I agree that Ivan seems like good captain material, I was just suggesting Paulo only if, as the original poster said, if it's his last game it'd be a nice little honor for him to captain the side for a bit, IMO.
May 18, 201113 yr I don't believe Carlo will take any chances with the last game of the season. He'll want to end up with all the flags flying. If he screws this one up he's a dead duck. This is the team I believe he will start. Cech Ivan Alex Terry Cole Ramires Mikel Lampard Kalou Drogba Malouda Edited May 18, 201113 yr by Randy36
May 18, 201113 yr If there is ever a meaningless EPL match, this is the one. Win or lose, Carlo's fate has been decided, so I don't think there is the must win factor. I expect a similar lineup like the Newcastle game, maybe Zhirkov get a game, or farewell game for that matter. I won't be shocked if the reserve goal keeper get a game, from memory, our defenders actually took more responsibilities when Hilario was in goal. Everon always make it difficult for us, don't expect anything less this time.

Everon always make it difficult for us, don't expect anything less this time. I agree it's not a MUST win situation. It's a matter of pride. I bet Carlo wants to finish the season with a win and is unlikely to gamble with a reserve goalkeeper etc., We are playing Everton not West Ham.
May 18, 201113 yr It will be a tough game...the last time we beat them was under Avram (correct me if I'm wrong?). I'd like to see similar line-ups to those above, is Bertrand fit? If he is then he should be given a go, Ashley has had a huge number of games considering his ankle trouble.
May 19, 201113 yr All I want is a worthy finish. Sure we have the 2nd place in the bag and therefore it doesn't matter if we win or lose, but it would be great to see the players give all in this final game. But I also would like to see players like Yossi and Yuri get a chance. Yuri doesn't seem like a player Carlo want to keep so this might be his final game. Would be great to see him once more.
May 19, 201113 yr I wouldn't put in a ridiculous experimental team like some are suggesting. Cech out for Turnbull? Everton away isn't an easy fixture. What if they absolutely batter us? Nobody wants to end the season like that.
May 19, 201113 yr Suspect it will be a similar team that we played vs Newcastle. Maybe Drogba coming in for Anelka ? And maybe Mikel for one of the midfield men, possibly Josh, id actually be surprised if he got a start away to Everton. Be interesting to see if Luiz makes the cut, im sure he was left out last week because of his drama at OT. I wonder how many players we will be saying goodbye too ?
May 19, 201113 yr I thought bertrand had a knock? I've heard that too. When does PVA officially get back from his loan? Leicester's season is over now and he's under 21 so doesn't have to be named to our official squad to qualify to play. For that matter, maybe we could get Bruma involved too?
May 19, 201113 yr Losing our last game of the season is unthinkable and after the disaster of last weeks performance it wouldnt surprise me .
May 19, 201113 yr We have secured second place. I think we should rest the players who have played virtually in every game this season. Ash, Ivan, Cech among them. Hilario for Turnball for me after having watched the reserve team final the other night...Turnball looked very suspect. I wouldn't include Torres either. He needs to get a good rest, clear his head and come back fresh and ready for pre-season. My team would be: .......................Hilario...... Paulo.....Luiz......Alex.....Bertrand ......................Mikel...................... Lampard(Josh 2nd Half).......Yossi. ........Kalou......Drogba.......Zhirkov..... May 19, 201113 yr Losing our last game of the season is unthinkable and after the disaster of last weeks performance it wouldnt surprise me . Carlo has never got the better of Moyes in six meetings - 5 draws, 1 Everton win. So don't be surprised if it ends in a draw.
May 19, 201113 yr Another 'training day' ....it really doesn't matter what the score is hardly effects either team...the Blues might pick it up a bit following last weeks absymal performance just to end on a high......there again...maybe not.....a bore draw I'm afraid.
May 20, 201113 yr Did you know that if City beat Bolton by 6 and we lose to Everton by 6, City could still catch us? They are 3 points behind us and a goal difference of 12 worse off. Cheers, Butch

May 20, 201113 yr Carlo will play the strongest possible line-up as he wants to win the last game of the season and potentially last game of him as our manager. Hope it isn't so but it is a possibility.
