October 11, 201411 yr i would recommend Sometime in April and Hotel Rwanda, films about a modern day holocaust too. Only by the production of these accounts can the world make sure that these events don't re-occur.
October 12, 201411 yr i watched Another Earth last night. on the recommendation of blue dave i think?. for i orgins which is only on very limited release in the u.k, so limited that it is only on in one cinema in London. the odeon leicster square. don't really fancy a trip up there to be honest, infested with rats and mice. Which was the director of i origins, Mike cahills first film, which was very good, considering the budget. well acted with a great story, and very thought provoking. i will have a look at some of his other films while i am waiting for i orgins to make it to dvd/netflix/sky. well worth a look! 7/10
October 12, 201411 yr I went to see Pride tonight. Didn't know anything about it before I went but a brilliant film. Tear in my eyes and at the end the audience applauded - can't remember the last time that happened! Spoiler - you may not enjoy it so much if you are a right wing Thatcherite! But then again, maybe you will, it's a feelgood film! i f**king hate that horrible old c**t snatcher. she hated the working class.
October 12, 201411 yr The Pianist!! Another truly brilliant film. excellent film as is the boy in the striped pjamas, Adrian brody is fantastic in that.
October 15, 201411 yr Annabelle, tbh I didn't find it slow at all like a lot of people are making out but I did find it anti-climatic. I thought the opening was the best part of the movie with the Manson stuff but beyond that it didn't do enough. The ending was horrible, not tense at all and predictable. I would have preferred it had the Annabelle doll gone all Chucky at the end but ah well. I'll give it credit for keeping my interest for an hour but all in all it was a big step down from the Conjuring. 6/10 On another note though my wife sh*t herself throughout so that was fun.
October 16, 201411 yr Gone Girl - 6/10. 40 odd minutes too long. Starts off slow and then rushes the ending, didn't see what the fuss is about.
October 17, 201411 yr Saw it tonight. Really like it. So twisted. The ending was rather unsatisfactory. ...but fitting with the movie I guess. 7.5 / 10 for me
October 18, 201411 yr Film night with friends - dragged out the crate of DVDs and we voted for Cinema Paradiso, what a wonderful, moving, thought provoking film. Alfredo! Alfredo!
October 19, 201411 yr Rush. the story about james hunt and niki lauda. It was o.k 7.5/10 Intriguing about seventies formula 1
October 19, 201411 yr The Equalizer 3/10 - sh*t. Aw no really? Big fan of denzel. What didn't you like bout it ? Edited October 19, 201411 yr by Zola
October 27, 201411 yr I also thought the equaliser was poo. Poorly acted and more importantly, absolutely NO LESBIAN SCENES. What is the point I ask you
October 27, 201411 yr The Maze Runner - 5/10. Combination of The Hunger Games & Lord of the Flies without the level of excitement (HG) and originality (LotF). The acting was wooden... The trailer to Mockingjay brought more of a reaction from the audience than the film. *SPOILER* If I recall the director said it was Lost meets Lord of the Flies... No.. Just, no. In both of those scenarios the location is set by an accident (both plane crashes). This, like HG, is forced/fixed by the Government. That is one of the most fundimental aspects of the film/book.
October 27, 201411 yr Saw Gone Girl a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to expect as some people have raved about it and some have found it a bit odd. I personally loved it, it's full of suspense and a great thriller. Both the leads were great. 9/10. Dropped a mark because they just didn't seem to know what they were doing in the last 15 minutes of it - strange.
October 27, 201411 yr Anyone like Dad's Army here? There's a new film coming out. I love the original and while remakes never tend to be as good, nothing could ruin it for me and I look forward to seeing it.
October 28, 201411 yr It`s going to be a awful...mark my words. just like carry on Columbus and the up to date st trinnians garbage.
October 28, 201411 yr The Judge, with Robert Duvall & Robert Downey Jr. Every scene makes its point, every line of dialogue weighs in. But it works the material too hard - it's all so emphatic and over-egged and improbably tied together. 8/10... :)
October 29, 201411 yr Live. Die. Repeat. Surprisingly good. Cruise played the role of a bemused, reluctant, soldier well and Emily Blunt and the supporting cast were well chosen. The story was interesting and the action very well done. My only negative was a feeling that the film reached a conclusion over too short a period; the story was paced well until the end, which seemed to happen too quickly. Recommended.
October 29, 201411 yr Live. Die. Repeat. Its theatrical release it was titled Edge of Tomorrow but for the home release for some reason they seem to have reverted to the book title that is Live.Die.Repeat.
October 29, 201411 yr Filth Weird movie starring James McAvoy, about a cop who is struggling with his career through drink and drugs. Funny in places, decent, but rather odd 7/10
October 29, 201411 yr The Purge 2. Far far better than the 1st film but still nothing amazing. Its ok to watch if you have some time to kill.
October 29, 201411 yr Filth Weird movie starring James McAvoy, about a cop who is struggling with his career through drink and drugs. Funny in places, decent, but rather odd 7/10 I watched that on Netflix the other week, I thought it started well but soon descended into a bunch of nonsensical scenes of him being drunk or high. It redeemed itself a little right at the end but I was slightly disappointed.
October 31, 201411 yr One film Im looking forward to is the James Brown biopic- financed by Mick Jagger I believe. Can't think of the actor earmarked for the role, but he needs to be one hell of a dancer. Look on youtube at JB going through his moves- reckon they wired him up to the mains
