Chelsea-Mad has learnt that Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti's father has died.

Reports coming out of Italy today say that Giuseppe Ancelotti passed away last night at the age of 87 at a nursing home in Gonzaga in the province of Mantova a few kilometres from the Reggiolo (Reggio Emilia), the area where the Ancelotti family originated.

Chelsea-Mad sends its condolences to Carlo and his family at this sad time.

Carlo had being travelling to and from Italy in recent weeks as his father's health got progressivly worse.

Its a horrible time in anyones life when you lose a parent, hope Carlo can remember the good times he had with his Dad and get through it without too much sadness.

R.I.P Giuseppe.

From what I can gather, it wasn't unexpected. His health had been deteriorating for a while, which was why Carlo had been going to visit him. It's never easy to lose a parent though.

Sincere condolences.

It is very sad to lose a parent, even when you've known for some time that the end is in sight. It is also quite scary to realise suddenly that YOU are the older generation and that you'll never be able to ask advice from that person again.

All you youngsters - make sure you get all the family history you can from your parents while you still have them with you.

My thoughts go out to Carlo and his family. Losing a parent must be really hard.

I hope we can give him a strong support in our next game.

Carlo is a part of the Chelsea family, so every loss for him is a loss for us.

Sad news for Carlo and his family. The funeral is on Saturday but Carlo is then going to return for the game on Sunday. I think it is safe to say nobody would grudge him staying in Italy and allowing Ray Wilkins to be in charge. A massive welcome is called for on Sunday.
