Some sanity back on the best thread on the forum, blimey the match day thread and Frank Lampard thread have gone into overdrive since last nights game, f**k knows how that lot would cope if they grew up in our childhood with the late 70’s early 80’s teams

Well said !

That Villa park picture is excellent,i didnt spot Greenaway ,i was too busy scratching my head re the pint of milk bloke ,i mean why and whats he wearing ,plus white hat man and as you say walking sticks....wonderful if a bit odd

Chi ..your brave going on the match day thread ,a mass of stupidity in one place ....

last night wasnt great ,recent performances haven’t been great but fukc it win loose up the blues

I loved it that a scouser managed 30 odd posts before getting banned on the match thread last night with a Torres avatar!! People too busy ranting to see the wind up!!

it is a strange thread as when I’m at games (remember that!) you don’t get that hatred of individuals, you might be disappointed but then you get behind them again.

we reminisce about the old days on here but don’t say vile things about them. Imagine social media back in the late 70s early 80s the internet would have broke!!

Agree that you don't get the hatred of players at games. Yes there is disappoint and you may disagree about performances with others who sit with you and in the pub afterwards but nothing nasty is said. I've had my seat in the MHU since season 97/98 and it's nearly all the same people around me and there have been sensible and polite discussions and debates but never anything nasty and vicious. You know where I sit and those who sit near me and I'd like to think that we can all discuss the game and players without being nasty.

I should add that I rarely look and post in the match day thread. Would rather look in here and a few other threads. I miss going to the Bridge. Hopefully come the next season. One thing about not going to the game is I've said a fortune on my ST and beers before and after the matches.

Yes will be good to catch up when we are allowed to. Be good to see if any others on here want to meet up

Saved a fortune on ST and beers, you are quite right Boyne,  and my Mrs has reminded me of this since Everton at home last March!

Just liked the pictures. Been posted before, I know.😀

Tommy Langley! Up at Norwich. Petar Borota cut his leg and needed stitches. We were losing 1-0 and only lost 2-0. !!!

it was on the big match, it wasn’t the main game in London just a few minutes I think the third game. Gerry Harrison as usual for Anglia tv.

That day was nuts.  Run of the mill league match but we took thousands, the usually empty segregation terrace behind the goal was given to us and as a result it turned into a 90 minutes coin fight with Norwich, the ballboys at half time were filling their pockets.

Didn’t there use to be a net coming down between the pens. Hated being in the corner one, not a great view.

It was a mesh fence but the squares were large enough for 2pence coins to get through, every other time I went there we were in the corner.

Seen that bottom picture before on the internet, with the caption, Chelsea before the money, then there’s comments from fans like Middlesborough etc taking piss, Boro never filled there old ground or their Lego kit new ground, funny the sh*t that’s talked about regarding football

Hey guys...

If you go to youtube and check the old chelsea leeds tough guys bit john dempsey is on....

I told him about being in the shed back in the late 60s and 70s and he replied of his fondness for the noisy shed and recalled how we used to chant their names before kickoff for a wave from each player...

I hadn't seen anything either until Twitter thread yesterday.

I was only thinking recently that hadn't heard or seen anything of TV for ages, so this would would appear why. As you say so sad as he was such a character with such great ideas and views. Is Jimmy Greaves in a similar situation as I know his health has been bad too?

Yeah Jimmy Greaves has been poorly for a while now.

Coin fights must be an east anglian thing as i always remember being in the corner at Ipswich and they has a coin net ,But all

you could still hear was picnk pinck as they flew around through the net hitting the ground etc....mind you not as fun as being in the corner at Everton with golf balls flying about....

my older brother always claimed back in the late sixties it was razor blades stuck in potatoes flying through the air but i have never known if that was true or a wind up...?
