Hatem Ben Arfa

Featured Replies

We are being linked to Ben Arfa the newscastle player who can play as an attacking midfield and winger. If this happens, there is a real possibility that we will drop our interest in Hulk as Ben Arfa can actually play from the right. Fingers crossed on this.

Newcastle paid £7m for him, wouldn't surprise me if we had to pay 3x that for him. Great player, no doubt, but it's disappointing that we often go for players when they're expensive after they've proven themselves. Although hopefully Marin will turn out to be a gem.

To echo what someone said above, if we could somehow get Ben Arfa, Adam Johnson and Modric for the price of Hulk, well... it'd be a no brainer, but I'm sceptical to be honest.

The reason Ben Arfa was so cheap is because he had major attitude problems. His talent has never been in question, but he managed to alienate managers at both Lyon and Marseille, got into multiple fights with teammates and made dubious injury claims. He seems to have straightened himself out at Newcastle, but I wouldn't have wanted to gamble on him 2 years ago and I'm still not sure he's all that great of an investment.

Think I've made my views on this guy quite clear. So to sum up the important points;

- can only play CAM, average elsewhere

- has no individual drive, when the team are playing poorly you look to players like him to make things happen but he can't do that

- surprisingly easy to mark out of a match

I don't think his attutidue is that bad to be honest but then again I paid more attention to him on the field as opposed as off it.

The exact reason why I hope we pass on him... Talent-wise? Sure but we don't need to give RDM anymore pressure and/or headaches than he is already going to have, imo...

I'd love this player at Chelsea, such a big fan of his.I know we don't need any more of these types of players especially now Marin looks like getting more game time and Schurrle maybe coming in January but i just want him anyway.

What we need now is a winger, not another player that likes to cut in or another no 10.

a winger is the last thing we need now

Another small, lightweight player who drifts into and out of games and who has had a questionable temperament and attitude in the past is the last thing we need....

....however we could do with his teamates Cabaye or Tiote.

Cabaye and Tiote would be great buys for us. I dont think the Chelsea board are smart enough to go and buy players we actually need though.

He is a great player and potentially a better squaddie than Moses, but I don't think he'd come here.

Ben Arfa's done a 360 on his attitude too. Seems like time up in Newcastle has humbled him.

With the squad we have and the players possibly coming back from loans, we certainly don't need an injury prone, fair-weather player like Ben Arfa.

So no thanks.
