The Frank Lampard goal scoring record thread

Featured Replies

5 pl games left poss three in the europa yet given the fact Rafa is showing Lampard no respect at all i cant see him getting the record, how insulting to bring him on in the last few mins again.

What a sad way for a club legend to finish his career here, sat on the bench, then being bought on for the last few mins.

It is hard to stomach isn't it...he looked so likely after the West Ham goal, but a few games without a goal, and he's out of favour again.

FL deserves the record, but one way or another, Chelsea fans will never let him forget how much we valued him as a player.

When he does play he plays him as a dm as well.

What people need to think about is its not if Frank can score those goals its how many games out of the possible 10 left will Frank actually play? I think out of 10 he would play in 3 maybe 4. So to score 3 goals in 3 or 4 games is a lot to ask.

It shouldnt even be a worry for this season. He should be offered a new contract and we can watch him well and truely break the record next season.

The FAT SPANISH WAITER is trying to sabotage Lamps but keep the faith ,he will pop up with a two soon in one game ,no substitute for class.

I can't see Frank being given enough games to break the record now - and it really hurts to feel this way.

Added to that, having hoped against hope, I'm having to accept that he won't be there next season. That hurts too,

This has truly GOT to be one of the worst seasons we've ever experienced - not just in terms of results but all of it, losing our SFL, having the ruddy interim, JT getting injured and repeatedly being benched, dire refereeing decisions.. roll on 2013-14, if he's going let's just get the sadness over with.

Seems as though Fatty is really trying to stop Frank getting the record, his rotation policy apparently only applies to

JT & SFL & Mikel while the misfiring Torres gets to play nearly every game with Ba benched more than he plays.

I am 'conspiracy theory' certain this is coming to Fatty from above, the oil thief is pissed off at SFL & JT for their perceived roles in the AVB fiasco so wouldnt be surprised if Frank doesnt get the playing time to have a fair shot at equalling the record let alone breaking it.  Looking back a few weeks ago Frank was on a roll knocking them in and Fatty just benched him, and the goals have dried subsequently dried up.

Hes not good enough in the centre(unless it against the smaller teams) and we need goals in our team.

So in Mata's position then?

Our best player for the past two years position?

I love Lampard as much as any other Chelsea fan but let's not be blinkered about this.

Lampard needs to be in a midfield 3 really if we want to get the best out of him. We could have Mikel sitting, Lampard in front of him with either Ramires in the "Essien role" or Oscar in the "Gudjohnsen role". Unfortunately 4-3-3 doesn't feature anyone behind the strikers (which is what gives Lampard the space to bomb forward) so we would have to play Mata out of position or as a particularly narrow wide man. This could be a very good plan B, but I think our plan A needs to be the 4-2-3-1 with Mata, Oscar and Hazard.

What he really needs is to be playing full stop.

In another 4 or 5 games we will be waving goodbye to him forever, lets just hope he breaks the record before he goes eh?

But i wont be holding my breath on that i think a certain someone is on a power trip to beat all power trips.

I think it could well work with Oscar in the 4-3-3. Would be similar to the 4-2-3-1 we played under RDM - ie. with Mata and Hazard coming in off the wings and Oscar in the middle, but just a bit deeper here where, imo, he is better as he has the play ahead of him. Then once Lamps is gone we can use Ramires there. Problem is the holder, will Mikel be adequate as a single holding mid?

Quote of the year... couldn't agree more.

TBH I don't care how he does it, who he displaces, whose nose he puts out of joint, either on the pitch or amongst fans, I don't even care any more this season if we win or lose the relevant matches, I just want to see that loyal, talented Chelsea player whom I will be so sad to see go and the club as a whole will miss more than they think be granted the respect he deserves by starting - and ending - as many games as humanly possible and by being given the chance to score sufficient goals to break that record because he ******* well deserves it!
