This situation puts us into a quite a pickle. Once mikel goes to acon we will be left with 2 cms. Do we sign anyone or recall players from loan? Dont know if we have an option to recall essien

Such a shame. Really rate him and he was just getting some decent game time too.

Be great if we turned to another young guy at the club rather than bringing someone in. Saville the obvious choice. It's times like this that the youngsters should get their chance otherwise the whole youth setup becomes pointless.

It's still rumours yet. I posted the original tweet in the Cahlobah topic. All seems to have come from a barca radio station. But yeah ACL damage, 6 months out. 2 options, recall josh/Essien/Chalobah or dip into the transfermarket. I rather the first.

Thats a shame for the boy, may see a bit more of Luiz as a midfielder if the Interim doesn't want to put faith in a youngster ,unless we recall someone.

Essien is injured himself and I wouldn't have saville over mceachran or chalobah who have been playing competitive football. He is a massive prospect but needs to do the loan time first. I imagine chalobah will be given a run out as he is back in jan and will more than likely be on the bench whilst frank and rami deputise

Can't remember who the challenge was with, but I'm pretty sure it was just a dodgy landing.

Really a shame, especially now when Mikel is gone to ACON. He would get a chance to play regular first team football for few weeks and then we would know how good he really is.. Hope he recovers soon.

If he's actually out that long, I think recalling Essien is a very good idea.

I'm also one of the people who think Fellaini would add some much needed muscle to our midfield. Perhaps this increases the odds we make a run at him?

Aren't McEachran and Chalobah both more deep lying playmakers though than defensive midfielders? If so it might be worth playing Luiz higher up with Ramires and playing Azpi-Cahill-Terry-Cole.

It looked pretty minor initially and didn't look like a hard tackle, just battling for the ball, a play you see a hundred times in a match.  Think it happened in the 9th minute, he kept playing, and then he landed awkwardly again.  My daughter tore her ACL (second one, different knee) and watching it on film, the knee buckled once, she kept playing, the knee buckled a few more times, and she finally went down and stayed down.  Kind of reminded me of that.  It's a sh*tty injury and I wish him a healthy recovery.

Time to recall Josh, don't want us to dip into the market again for a 20M signing, only to bench it next year.

Gutted for Oriol he's looked good recently, no need to buy though I'm hoping chalobah gets a chance. If the club feel he's not ready then it would make more sense to bring the bison home, than spend money.

That's how I'd see it as well.  Really hope we can be creative and figure out a solution without having to recall either, as they both seem to be pretty nailed-on starters at their clubs.  

Sad news. Romeu is a good footballer and I was glad to see him getting a few games and was looking forward to seeing more of him in action. Hopefully the injury will not affect his career as it did to Essien. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Well Fellaini is one player I have mentioned before who I think could really give us something different so hopefully if we buy this puts his name further up the list.

 

Shame for Romeu, he really could have come along under Rafa.

good thing lamps has recovered. oscar looks like he can play in that role with ramires.
